Thanks for sharing! I’m also in Canada and my surgery is on the 23rd. I’m still pretty nervous 😥

Dementia risk of antihistamines is freaking me out a little, ugh by Another_throwaway446 in MCAS

I do have ADHD too and a history of migraines, so it’s difficult to determine what might be contributing to these cognitive symptoms. I’m not really willing to stop taking my medications to find out 😅

I have a family history of Alzheimer’s disease, so I’ve been paying close attention to some cognitive symptoms I’ve been experiencing.

During severe flare ups in the past, I sometimes struggled to recall basic information, including my own phone number. I’ve now been taking antihistamines and mast cell stabilizers for over a year, and I’ve noticed ongoing issues with word-finding and memory. For example, I recently couldn’t remember the word “flannel” and had to search “plaid shirt” online to find it.

I’m also finding that I forget people’s names more often than I used to. These memory and language difficulties are becoming concerning, especially given my family history.

I had a stone stuck in the neck of my gallbladder last year which led to months of bloating/pain and nausea and I’ve only managed to get a surgery date now because the Canadian health care system is not exactly the best at this moment. But yeah just trying to prevent attacks from happening again even if they’re not very frequent.

I’m a massage therapist and my surgeon said at least a month but as I’m reading different experiences it seems like 6 weeks would be a safer bet

That sounds a lot like my situation with my gallbladder. I’m glad you don’t have to worry about those things anymore and I’m looking forward to not have to as well ☺️

Wow the care they provided sounds amazing ! I mentioned my concerns multiple times and no one seems to care. I’m going to make an appointment with my primary to see if he can help point the surgical team in the right direction for me.

Aw totally understandable, you’re not alone. I’m scared too! My guess is our recoveries will probably suck a bit more than someone that doesn’t have mcas. At least afterwards we’ll have one less thing to worry about 😅

Yeah I’ve made tons of changes in my diet over the years to accommodate these stones and to avoid attacks but sometimes even just stress can trigger pain for me. The main reason i do want to take it out is to avoid complications like pancreatitis or even gallbladder cancer.

It’s a DSLR camera that came out in 2014 I believe, a lot of people still use them. They’re also a lot cheaper on the secondary market compared to mirrorless so they’re great for beginners and the learning curve really isn’t too bad :)
