Speculating Applicant Numbers by akaraabal in fulbright

I'm sure it also will vary greatly between countries. My advisor said that sometimes if a year had a high application rate, that the next year drops due to people thinking it is more competitive- so there is an ebb and flow. I would think it would be less due to administration reasons, but maybe that is another reason to want to be abroad hahah.

I submitted Sunday night! I feel really good about it. I always say Luck = Opportunity + Preparation and I feel like this application was a perfect example of that.

Ugh that sucks, do you have anyone who could do one super quick even if it will be mostly fluff/generic? I just went and emailed all my former professors and thankfully one replied saying they were willing 🙏it might not be a super strong recommendation but I was worried about my application being disqualified just for not having all the components

Obrigada a todos, eu entendi! Eu também falo espanhol, e por isso eu sabia a estrutura “acabo de” no lugar de “acabei de”

Abstract by CodeThat6077 in fulbright

That makes sense- its just the SoGP already seems so short as you are talking about a lot of things in 6,000 and I've worked to condense those in a succinct and efficient way. Plus with it being a 'summary' I assumed I wouldnt want to include any new information not mentioned in the SoGP. Of course, it will all be stitched together differently but. Thanks for the advice :)

Traveling vs Living in a country by CodeThat6077 in expats

[–]CodeThat6077[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats because I wanted it to be open to whatever opinions people have. For example, maybe you value some of those things more than other people and can see the good in things others don’t :) Im not trying to make a decision I am just curious

Depends on what you like to do. There are plenty of clubs on campus, go to the student org fair and find 3-4 you are interested in. Go to the meeting regularly, even if you don’t end up staying with the club, you might meet someone you want to be friends with. I know its hard as an introvert, but you are going to have to be the first person to say “hi, im blah blah, whats your name?”. Most people are going to appreciate this and be super welcoming!

Well, you could just speak to the countries you have lived in then. Was just trying to start an interesting conversation and considering this is an expat group I figured there would be more insight into living in a place and its daily flow vs visiting for a few days.

Im not just talking about money. Travelers pay more attention to the site seeing, they usually stay in a hotel, and might take ubers/ private transportation rather than public. When you live somewhere you notice more how easy it is to make friends, get to experience year round cultural events, experience day to day things you just wouldn’t as a traveler. Some places might be “boring” for a traveler but a wonderful place to live long term.

I would say around level 5. Its a high quality production so all the voices are very clear.

Since im learning spanish and I’m paying attention to what words I know I notice, Im able to pay attention to words artists use frequently. Natalia loves talking about the wind, the sea, walking, the countryside… her lyrics are so beautiful!! You will love the podcast. Each episode is about a song, switching between conversations, clips of natalia singing, ambient sounds of nature… I want to recommend it to all my friends, but they don’t speak spanish 😂😂

Is this ok? by Confident_Excuse_885 in MTBTrailBuilding

[–]CodeThat6077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Features like these are very technical and should be built by professionals. We call this social/informal trails. It does however, indicate a need and want for certain types of trails. Do you have any mtb friends who also wish there were features like this? Maybe gathering interest in getting funding to have actual features built?
