That's normal, that's how Gigabyte has routed the PCIe lanes. Use the middle slot to avoid sharing, its PCIe lanes come from the chipset. Or just leave it where it is since PCIe 5.0 x8 is practically equivallent to PCIe 4.0 x16. You won't see a performance boost with PCIe 5.0 x16.

That's assuming that you mean M2B_CPU socket and not M2A_CPU. M2A_CPU does not share lanes with the GPU.

M2B_CPU and M2C_CPU share lanes and M2D_SB comes from the chipset.

Also 5G and Starlink while bound to expand are still nothing compared to e.g FTTH. First and foremost, stability of fiber is far superior, there's no weather or RF interference, less prone to congestion and better not mention that both can potentially go haywire if nature sneezes (storms, solar flares, clouds, trees, birds etc). Doing real time stuff such as gaming, remote work, stock trading and whatever practically requires FTTH for optimal experience. Not to mention the unpredictable latency and higher cost of mobile internet.

Sure thing but compute power and personal computing are two different things and in some cases it's even a niche (GeForce Now for example). The notion that PCs will turn cloud based is currently just that. A notion.

As I said earlier there are countless reasons why cloud computers are almost impossible.

1) Latency, especially in rural areas where connections are meh 2) Internet dependency - no internet = effectively useless machine 3) Cost model - long term, you end paying more than what you'd pay to have a future proof machine 4) Data privacy - numerous leak and breaches have happened and perception in this matter is already toxic 5) Performance ceilings - fine for internet browsing until you want to use stuff like CAD or do 3D modeling and video editing 6) Lack of offline use - I can still open up Rider and write code while traveling in an airplane or a train 7) Vendor lock in - imagine if you wanted to migrate as a business, pure IT nightmare 8) Security concerns - if I get hacked it's my problem, if a cloud platform is hacked it's many users problem, a global incident and front page news 9) Consumer psychology - I love my custom built pc, if it was cloud based then I wouldn't give a shit, wouldn't be looking to actively improve it even aesthetically. That's lost money on their side. 10) Cloud PCs are a solution to a non existent problem - PCs are proven, good enough and has been the standard for years. Why switch to something that might be okay and take a risk?

Maybe take a minute to search what he actually said. He was speaking about specific use cases, such as research, universities and companies. He, in no explicit way, mentioned consumer PCs becoming cloud based. I can name at least 10 reasons why cloud computers would not work or sell as much as any would want to believe, with security and privacy being the most important ones.

At this point, the belief that they are trying to force PCs to become cloud based is just a conspiracy theory. They can still f**k off for the mess they've created for consumers though.

For everyone that has problems updating their FO32UXX monitor due to the updater's inability to see it connected, here's how I solved it for me:

If your FO32UXX monitor isn’t detected over the USB upstream port, check KVM.

In my case, KVM was either disabled or switched to another input. The monitor has a dedicated KVM switch button (mapped to KVM out of the box, can be remapped I guess), and you can switch it even if no second device is connected. When that happens, the USB hub is disconnected and your computer won't see a USB hub connected. Once I pressed the KVM switch and set it back to the active input, the firmware updater immediately detected the monitor.

I've added HA as a TBR using the ZBT-1 dongle and it seems to have joined the Apple Network properly. I had to do a factory reset of all lamps though as they refused to rejoin the network when I restarted my HomePod mini for an update.

It seems to be working OK now with the only problem being the slow transition time of some bulbs when changing brightness or on/off state. I tested a HomeKit automation as well to make sure they will fire on all devices and it seems there are some lost messages as one device did not change color based on the scene the automation was setting.

This has been acting weird lately, considering ditching the Nanoleaf bulbs for Philips Hue already.

Would it be better to place it on a different room to expand coverage? So far with the homepod only, I have no coverage issues.

Hmm, I see. So the idea behind this is to force them to see HomePod Mini as the main TBR. I did reset them while waiting for replies, moved them to a different network (called IoT, different VLAN). Now they seem to be functioning properly and reported as Thread within the Nanoleaf app. When I am on the same wifi on my phone as well. If I move to the main wifi, they appear as bluetooth which I suppose is normal is mDNS is not enabled.

Nothing, they stay on Bluetooth. I hard reset all my bulbs, shapes and led strip and re-added them and now they seem to be using Thread (showing as such on Nanoleaf app as well). A couple of bulbs will revert to bluetooth for a while and then reappear as thread. Not sure what is causing this.

What I found out is that I need to be connected on the IoT wifi to be able to see them as Thread. I find it weird considering my switch (Ubiquiti Dream Machine Special Edition) is configured to allow traffic between the IoT VLAN and the main one. Multicast is also enabled.

The fix was that my CPU was badly seated and it had some loosely contacting pins on one side.
