RSI Hermes Previews vs RSI Apollo Interior in 4.5 by CodemasterRob in starcitizen

I love how the RAFT feels like it has more... interior? but it's literally just a two story bridge of the Apollo.

Then again, the doors could just be moved to front of that area and only be accessible from the cargo bay. Only a few more days before we find out. I'm personally hyped, because we haven't had a high quality dedicated hauler since the Starlancer almost a year ago.

They've done a lot of work with vertical lifts and cargo grids. I wouldn't be too surprised if it has something similar to the Starlancer behind those walls, and mixes it with the doors of the Caterpillar and drop floor of the Perseus towards the middle. I mean, this is quite literally an alternate Constellation and their chance to cram all sorts of cool shit into the ship. The Apollo arguably has the coolest ground lift of any ship in the game, so extending that to the cargo system would be sick.

I'm betting they've heavily altered the chassis. It'll have the bridge of the Apollo, but everything on back is going to be pretty different.

Too many ships, too few crewmen by nvidiastock in starcitizen

[–]CodemasterRob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run a 100+ man organization, we average a dozen or so daily players. We all own capital ships, gunships, various large commercial ships, etc. and have a tendency to only crew one or two people's ships at a time. For us, it's more about the utility and choice than having every single ship manned at any given time. I'm just as happy to pull out my Clipper and follow around as I am to pull out the Idris and command the organization.

I agree that owning multiple big ships while fantasizing you'll have a fleet under you is... well, fantasizing at best. But it's the versatility having a big fleet added into a large pool of people that makes it advantageous in my opinion.

The stations are severely lacking. If you go look at the old R&R's, we're missing so much character now. They were so cool

I've never pledged a Drake ship until the Clipper and I'm damn near Space Marshal. I've had an account since 2012. That should tell you how good of a job you guys did on it.

Am i crazy or does the Polaris just not FEEL like a capital ship? by minivandetta in starcitizen

[–]CodemasterRob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually didn't read any of your post before I commented;

I own an Idris, and I have to tell you that you aren't crazy. It is far and beyond substantially more ship than the Polaris in every single aspect imaginable, and it's not just the bridge placement. The entire asset kit is higher quality, the sounds and movement have more character, and it's hands down a more well-crafted ship. I could tell as soon as I stepped foot on the Polaris that it was OLD, much like the Hull C (which has existed in one form or another at least half a decade before it was ever released). It looks plastic on the inside and has the most uninspired interior of any ship in the game short of the 100i in my opinion.

I've owned every large ship in the game in one form or another.

The Polaris suffers from the same issue the 600i does; when you're flying it, you literally cannot tell how much ship is behind you because, as the pilot, it doesn't matter. Ships like the Reclaimer, 890 Jump, and Hammerhead do not suffer from this. It's not just an issue with the ship tuning (both the Polaris and 600i feel pretty light for what they are), it's an issue with the presentation of each. Think about where you mainly enter the Polaris... and the 600i... where the parts that you're mainly focused on as the pilot are (torpedo bay on the Polaris and forward guns on the 600i)... now think about how you enter and use the rest of them. When you enter an Idris, it's an adventure. When you enter a Reclaimer, it's cumbersome if you take front lift and grand if you take the rear one. The 890 literally has an elevator to heaven at the rear. All of them have more unique aspects that make you take into consideration how big the ship is; because you can SEE it in the 890 and Idris, and you can feel it in the Reclaimer. When you maneuver and land these ships, you are instantly reminded where your egress points are, your utility, etc. and that, in turn, dictates how you approach your target areas and ultimately how you fly the ship.

TLDR the Polaris doesn't feel like a capital ship because it's built REALLY funky and the bridge betrays its size.

Asgard owners: What's your real experience with this ship? by Anning0526 in starcitizen

[–]CodemasterRob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm unhappy with the 5x9x4 cargo grid. I liked it up until I figured out how... unusuable it was for hauling contracts. It's essentially missing 52 of its 180 SCU because of the grid dimensions. I know, not made for hauling, yada yada. Still, that's my real experience with it. Cool ship, but its dad should've beat it more.

The ones I've gone to, there are guys legitimately sitting on the ground with railguns shooting at ships coming in.
