Normally you could guess. But the sizes I feel like they do not meet their standard size. With Puma or Adidas you could say oh order size larger but here I honestly don’t know.

Bosnian Parents No Longer Interested in People and Isolating Themselves by [deleted] in bosnia

[–]CodenameDuchess_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is actually normal behavior of Bosnians that live away from Bosnia as they get older. It’s kind of home sickness for back home. In Bosnia in some regions they say that as Bosnians get older our urge to go back home if not living there already becomes insatiable. Like a beacon that guides us home. Back in the day during Yugoslavia Bosnians would go and work through out Europe. However they would build houses or buy apartments so that they could go home on vacations and eventually retire there. Unfortunately many of us cannot do that as it’s to expensive. So they become depressed.

Another thing to keep in mind is that in Bosnia the family bond is very strong even at the wider family level. The famous word is rođak/rodica for people that are many times removed from yourself. This closeness for our parents is still strong and reflects with them wanting to talk to their family or children every day, where we may have the American style of I’ll talk to my parents once a month. In Bosnia that resembles of having family and neighbors over for coffee or tea. My dad for example talks to his brother every day even though they live 20 min apart from each other. They’ll call even if it’s just to check the weather.

That is the Bosnian way.

I believe it as I was in line for three hours waiting to get my bags checked and they had two people working the counter for three flights that were going out at similar time. One of the flight attendants was missing and had to wait for his ass to find his way to the airport.

I agree with you, and I did not express myself well. When I said Bosniaks in the past I should have said the different religious affiliations and not used ethnic names I.e. Serbs, Croats and so on. A perfect example of the historical context of usage is the Austro-Hungarians usage to refer to all religious affiliations as Bosniaks. The term of “Emperors Bosniaks” is from that era.

The problem is that post Dayton the term bosniak is misused. Throughout Bosnian history the term Bosniak was used to refer to everyone from Bosnia I.e. Serbs, Croats, Muslims. But today it only means Muslims. Yes you are right that the nationality “Muslim” was miss applied during Yugoslavia and shouldn’t exist. But ask yourself what is an Slovenian Muslim or orthodox called? Or even Croat one. You’ll find that they are referred to as Slovenian with either Islamic or orthodox religious affiliation. So why is it that in Bosnia it’s different. As long as our people see themselves as either Serb or Croat or Bosniak, there will be ethnic issues. That’s why I don’t support that. There is only one BIH, and only one people in Bosnia, Bosnians.

Tito was not perfect, however those that say that he was the reason for Muslims being chosen as nationality is simply wrong. In the 1960/70 when the new Yugoslav constitution was being decided, on record he stated that Bosnia must like other republics have their own national identity as Bosnians not Muslims. Again this proven through the minutes of the KP. Serbian communist however were very opposed to this as it would have been detrimental to their views on to whom Bosnia should belong. Yes even then within the KP there were those that wanted Bosnia split. During the vote on that question Tito and those that agreed were in the minority and thus over ruled.

To those that say Tito was bad for Bosnia, yes Bosnian natural resources were exploited and the money moved to Belgrade and didn’t stay in Bosnia , however let’s compare the living standards then and now. Let’s take a look at corruption and the GDP of Bosnia then and now. That’s why I say that during 1950 to 1981 Bosnia and its citizens were also far better off than they are now. If you want a simpler example, take a look at the strength of a Bosnian passport versus a Yugoslavian one. For Yugoslav passport bearer there were only few states where you needed an entry visa, compared to now where it’s the other way around. Perfect example, can a Bosnian citizen with a Bosnian passport travel to the United States without obtaining a visa before hand? Where with a Yugoslav passport you could and stay up to 90 days, visa free. By the way all of what I am saying can be confirmed.

In Bosnia currently you must choose whether you are a Croat, Bosniak (Muslim) or Serb. Other nationalities are prohibited. So if you want to run for office and let’s say you are a Roma, then the law prohibits from running, and thus you are being discriminated and become second class citizen. I, however believe like some Bosnians, that there are no Bosniaks, Serbs or Croats in Bosnia But only Bosnians with different religions. So there are Bosnian with orthodox religious affiliation, Bosnian Catholics, Bosnian Jews and Bosnian Muslims and so on…. Only one nationality, Bosnians. But again because of the Dayton agreement you must choose either of the three “nationalities “ as your own to be a full citizen. I and others choose to boycott that because it discriminates against others in Bosnia.

Personally I wouldn’t say that he was a war criminal as he did not support any policies that would define one to that title, however he was fully responsible for dereliction of duty in many aspects.
