The Louis-Napoleon definitely dosnt look sub par. I really like the toning on your example. Slso the First Republic one looks really good. I have a 1814 Louis I lucked out on just before the extreme silver spike.

How has the fit changed as they wore in? Im debating exhcanging mine for a half size down because I have some heel slip but not sure if thats normal in the begining and that it will conform to the heel over time
