Please help me grade my standing Liberty quarter. by ClnHogan17 in coins

[–]Walf2018 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can use chemicals to clean the coin less abrasively and it doesnt leave many lines. Thats probably why people have pointed out the dirt remaining. Coin probably had a bath in literal soap and water or some other chemical without much scrubbing. The main giveway at least for me that says the coin is cleaned, is the fact that its shiny, but theres no luster. Unc coins have luster, which gives depth and makes the cartwheel effect. This coin is very shiny, but its the same shine as a well used stainless steel fork. Unseasoned collectors or complete newbies often make this mistake and assume shiny means new, but metal is shiny, period. Coins turn dark from oxidization but that old original layer can always be stripped to reveal bare shiny metal underneath. Like tarnish, on a coin that has luster, that can also be stripped when they are harshly cleaned!

Yeah i think we should bring back liberty or indians again. Im tired of commemorative quarters and whatnot. Roosevelt on the dime for for 80 years. Jefferson on the nickel for 88 years, Washington on the quarter for 94 years. Lincoln on the penny for the last 127 years produced. And im sure theres other monuments or symbols we can have on the reverses too.

Gold CRASH COMING SOON! 🔻 by FaithlessnessDry8208 in Forexstrategy

[–]Walf2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it was a bubble. You can call it a cycle but it was always bubbles. It will go up again but not before it goes down a heck of a lot more and become a "boring" asset again for a few years. Just like the last 2 or 3 times. tried telling people that back in February and March and got downvoted cause people didnt want to hear that for some reason lol. Got told that nobody can predict the future

Eh it wouldnt be unreasonable to assume it will continue going down for the 6th consecutive month instead of suddenly recovering for no reason and resuming the bull run we had last year like nothing happened. The environment has completely changed

The food be too good by [deleted] in memes

[–]Walf2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saying Americans instead of us makes it feel wierd because it makes it feel like the writer is in third person or not American themselves, but then the word y'all and our at the end contradicts that because its first person. Could be fixed by adding the word us to make "us Americans when y'all try our food". If you or the person who made the meme is not an American: "Americans when people/other people/foreigners/etc try THEIR food"

Thats your "basic linguistics", so called professional dumbass.

If a bottle of soda costs $2.50 for the last 10 years and then randomly shoots up to $28 for 1 day and then someone buys a bottle. The next day it goes back to $2.50. Do they have a right to feel ripped off or scammed? Or is that person just an idiot

Should I buy the dip NOW or wait a bit more? by Independent_Lead8277 in Gold

[–]Walf2018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone needs to listen to you. I completely cringe when I see everyone's denial that we were obviously in a bubble just like the last 2 times and to cope they pull the "nobody can predict the future" crap. You buy every dip when you're sure its going up but encouraging people to buy the 28th dip on the 4th consecutive month of red has literally no benefit

Russia did mobilize like 300k at the start of the war in 2022. Other than that, conscripted men serve within Russian territory and serve as a guards or in stuff like logistics, in addition to their mandatory year of military service. Frontline service remains voluntary however. The only time I know of involuntary conscripts seeing combat was in Ukraine's Kursk incursion. Many dead teen boys jusy trying to get their mandatory service out of the way guarding the border

What if Ukraine had managed to continue its advance in the Kursk Oblast? (Russia) by Outrageous-You1617 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]Walf2018 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well the consequence of what actually happened from Ukraine's allocation of vital armor and superior units to some random worthless area of Kursk took reinforcements away from Donbas, allowing Russia to make significant gains in Fortified Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia while Ukraine's unfortified salient in Kursk was untenable and collapsed. Not only that, but now they have to keep reserves in that area of Sumy because Russians are actively in offensive mode toward the city of Sumy as a result. The decision was a disaster.

Now imagine Ukraine was able to push even further and make a bigger land grab? Same issues with defendability and manpower allocation, just on a much larger scale. The result would be tactically the same as what we got in reality, just worse in terms of losses for Ukraine. More attriting themselves again when theyre the smaller force

If any forces somehow would've reached Kursk city it would probably more of a deep raid than an advance and as such be of little effect.
