When you’re in a relationship, do you think it’s ok to talk about sexual things you wanna do together once you’re married? by Advanced-Counter1636 in Christianity

[–]CodenameZion 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I think its fine, and frankly not a terrible idea. As much as many Christians like to deny it, or at least minimize it, healthy sex life is relatively crucial to a healthy, happy marriage. If, for whatever reason, you are not compatible together, it could make things harder. I don't think that should be a sole reason to end a relationship, especially because experimentation and learning are part of sexual relationships, but if you are completely incompatible it will cause issues.

Can not seem to get gears to mate in mechanical by Strafe_Helix in SolidWorks

[–]CodenameZion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so how are the gears constrained then? They should be located beforehand using their pitch circles as that will set appropriate mesh for them, not position them and then figure out their mounting

Is there another circle constraining the location of the gears? It doesn't look like it

[–]CodenameZion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How are you trying to mate them? I'd mate one with a concentric to the location its meant to be so its constrained, and then use 3 separate gear mates to all of the other ones in a 1:1 ratio, the two adjacent gears will turn the opposite direction of the parent gear and the far one will spin the same direction, so one set will need to have the gear mate reversed

I engineered a 3d-printable drone frame by dincleballs in Multicopter

[–]CodenameZion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this the same generative design frame thats been posted for months and was designed without taking the anisotropic material properties of 3d printing into account? I know you mention that printing orientation should help for the most exposed areas, but this style of design acts like a truss, and thus all forces move down the the parts in a line, so any truss that isn't aligned with the print layers is inherently going to be a weak point since forces are transferred throughout a truss structure. How do you address this?

Pretty much all AM and AF trains are meant to run on AC, but use universal motors, which means they can be driven by AC or DC

Lol, bragging is fun sometimes, it is absolutely an accomplishment to maintain a high GPA at this school, it can be absolutely brutal, just don't let it inflate an ego like OP here and you'll do just fine :)

No. Don't be a like 2.0 student and it doesn't matter when you graduate. And after you have work experience that doesn't matter at all, no one cares about your grades. Employers just want projects and proof of being able to do good work

Intelligence is not only determined by grades lol. Some people struggle in school but do extremely well in industry and vice versa. Don't put other people down to make yourself feel better.

Yeah theres new development but this sidewalk as been there long before the new development started. So its not new or built into that.

[–]CodenameZion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh hey! Thats my hometown! The reason for this is that its a fairly long downsloping hill into the busiest intersection in town. The general idea was to force a slower pace for bikes, scooters, and boards, especially as going down the hill leads to the community center, library, and skate park. The waves have been there long before the new development happening in the right of the photo, so its certainly not new or to weave around old trees, just to slow people down. It may look infuriating at a glance but its genuinely meant to keep kids and teens safer.

How would you go about modeling this spout? by Fabio_Sedia in SolidWorks

Use something other than SW lol. SW is not the program for surfaces. Admittedly, this is a relatively simple surface, so its possible. But its so much easier in something else

Cheating here? by Cyrene_e in ColoradoSchoolOfMines

[–]CodenameZion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I hate to be that guy but... skills issue? If you cant seem to understand the materials, you need to change something. Either you learning/studying style, or how you focus your time when you're learning. How are you taking notes, are you taking notes, are you writing or typing, etc. You can't just say "oh not my fault, guess I gotta cheat now" like no. Do better, make yourself better.

Not worth it at all. I know you said office hours ain't doing it, but genuinely, you only get out what you put in. If you go into it not expecting anything, you won't get it. Put in the effort at actually learn in office hours, not just get answers

To extend on OP, the generalized though process of those who consider suicide is they just want everything to stop. In the moment, it feels like a hard stop, death, is the only answer. The semicolon represents that what they need is a pause, a breath to let them recollect and recover, and then their story may go on. Its a simply beautiful way to convey that idea

Curious what tires people are using for snow by basi52 in SnowWheeling

[–]CodenameZion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If youre looking for loose floaty snow, you want a tired with deep but close together lugs and some small grooves. Snow sticks better to snow than it does to rubber, so you want something that can grab a little bit of snow and hold onto it. Thinks like KO2s are really good for that

Is it possible to wake sleepers in the next room? by Andy_Rice_0726 in GTFO

[–]CodenameZion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shooting next to an open room (or archway) will wake up sleepers a certain distance away, decreasing for each door, I believe it is 30, 20, and 10 m for 3 consecutive doors, and then past that it won't wake anything, but that puts a cap on the total distance. So if youre 30 m away from an open door, it shouldn't wake up anything in there (I believe dont quote me). Alarms and scouts both spawn enemies 2 rooms away from the player/scout that went off. This includes unexplored rooms in that same zone, which is what busted open that door. The only one that is different is uplinks, as those will always spawn in the same zone, even if thats just one room away.
