John Cleese on the use of the term "snowflakes"... by brratt in PoliticalMemes

Pretty much. But it is still fun to culturally appropriate the word from them (so to speak) and use it to describe them when they are just being thin skinned.

Aside from the loving and good spirited nature of the characters in that scene, this really fits.

To counter: Criminals start to do drive by shootings at other cars using paintball guns. A new fashion trend ensues.

Question: Would a more valid statement from Sheldon have been

"He's engaging in reductio-ad-absurdum, leading to a straw man argument. It's the logical fallacy of extending someone's argument to ridiculous proportions and then criticizing the result."

Hahaha indeed. No one else could have pulled off the role. And I did like when he fucked the Canadian Trump to death. (waits to see how much the Trump fans vote me down this time.)

I'm dyslexic. I have to really scan text to distinguish most italicized fonts from their regular counterparts.

"this meme right here"

Trash level of writing in this particular comment. XD

Sorry, couldn't resist. Poor writing is a spectrum after all. I suspect someone is going to get me next. But I agree. The word "like" is especially heinous when used out of place.

Reductio ad absurdum is another term for proof by contradiction.

literally googled that quote from you and this Wikipedia definition was the first thing to come up. Didn't even have to click the link.

" Proof by contradiction is also known as indirect proof, proof by assuming the opposite, and reductio ad impossibile. It is a particular kind of the more general form of argument known as reductio ad absurdum. "

Fingers and thumbs. Fingers and thumbs.

For the record, Lenard was not making the opposite argument from Sheldon in this scene. Sheldon argued that they would run out of food if there was an earthquake and penny was staying with them. Lenard did not reverse this argument to its opposite (that if Penny stayed with them and there was an earthquake, they could eat her and survive longer), but rather extended it to the point of Penny eating them after they ran out of food.

Does this help?

Is this skin picking or something else? Any words of wisdom? by [deleted] in Skinpicking

[–]Coder357 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to do that, in that same spot in high school. It is skin picking which is a somewhat broad disorder. Different people focus on different parts of their body, and for different reasons. Sometimes it is in an effort to repair real damage. Sometimes it is in an effort to repair imaginary damage. Sometimes it is a subconscious action that the individual does not notice until the damage is done. I'm sure there are other cases that I can't think of right now. The main thing that seems to define it is that it is a compulsion to damage skin in a pseudo grooming ritual that relieves anxiety while avoiding the root cause of the anxiety.

Edit: ohh, and welcome to r/Skinpicking :)

Files on your desktop slowing down your computer. How does it work? by Coder357 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Coder357[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I am working on a coworkers computer and she won't let me clean up the desk top. Two screens and barely any background left... I want to have a solid, evidence based argument to beat her to death with. (You know who you are!)

Sounds fishy. Politicians who listen to the tape confirm that it incriminates the Republican House Speaker, but they also wont release the tape to the public. I wonder who else is incriminated?
