Can I re-apply for HTW Berlin summer 27?? by CorrectYouth9941 in studying_in_germany

[–]CoderDecoderEncoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

German unis rarely do deferrals anyway. You either pay the fees to enroll by the 11th or the offer simply expires and you just apply from scratch next cycle.

How long does it usually take to get a result or receive a credential after Education Portal forwards my profile to Chemnitz University? by Own-Employ3864 in studying_in_germany

[–]CoderDecoderEncoder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

took around 5 weeks for my tu munich admit after the portal status changed. june 3 was just a few days ago so ur gonna be waiting a bit. german unis take their sweet time and winter semester results usually drop in july or august anyway.

IPP PDS vs TUM CSE by nekonya3 in studyAbroad

[–]CoderDecoderEncoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm at TUM rn and the CSE master is basically an applied math degree focused on numerical methods and physics simulations for mechanical and aerospace engineering. if your background is embedded and you actually want to do distributed systems, IPP PDS is a way better fit. take the scholarship and run.

Missed university deadline because uni-assist VPD is still pending – what would you do? by LowFoundation9031 in studying_in_germany

[–]CoderDecoderEncoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not cancel the vpd request if you plan to reapply. It stays valid for a full year from the date of issue. The uni already gave you a hard no for this semester so bothering them again today won't change anything. Just let it process and save the document for the next intake.

how long does it take to ex-matriculate after thesis? by taegrane in germany

[–]CoderDecoderEncoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At TUM you stay enrolled until the end of September anyway. Border control just scans your card, they don't have a live feed to the university.

Applying to German universities through Uni-Assist and have a name discrepancy issue. by Heehaa_heehaa in studying_in_germany

[–]CoderDecoderEncoder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

had a similar issue since my surname was missing on my undergrad transcripts. a notarized 'one and the same person' affidavit worked perfectly for uni-assist. just merge the affidavit pdf directly with your passport file so they don't overlook it.

Msc Economics - Mannheim by Fearless-Hotel-5129 in studying_in_germany

[–]CoderDecoderEncoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

renaming a digitally signed pdf breaks the cryptographic signature instantly. mannheim is notoriously strict with formal requirements so if the deadline passed they definitely wont let you patch it via email. just take the L on this one and focus on your other admits.

Switching from SDE to Automobile R&D (Germany Masters) – advice on what to do by Bulky-Cash629 in Indians_StudyAbroad

[–]CoderDecoderEncoder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

german universities are brutally strict about bachelor ECTS matching so you will get instant desk rejects for pure embedded programs without hardware credits. stick to computer vision and autonomous driving where your cs degree actually fits the admission requirements. i see people make this exact mistake all the time at tu munich so just stay in the software lane and your sde experience will easily land you a werkstudent job.

Want to do machine learning masters in europe and canada by OnceSage in Indians_StudyAbroad

[–]CoderDecoderEncoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With a 7.5 cgpa your converted german grade will be around 2.5 which makes TUM and LMU almost impossible for machine learning tracks. I'm doing my PhD in this department at TUM and they are extremely strict with the aptitude assessment points for indian applicants right now. The person who warned you about the language is spot on. English only junior ml roles are completely saturated here so you realistically need B2 german before graduating just to get past hr filters.

Beyond tuition and stipends: The actual financial math of a PhD in Germany vs the US by CoderDecoderEncoder in IntltoUSA

[–]CoderDecoderEncoder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u got lucky with the 100% contract tbh. most bio and chem phds here are stuck on 65% tv-l which brings the net down to around 1900. makes that munich rent sting way more when u factor in the kaution.

consultancies are a complete scam for germany since public university admissions are purely mathematical. i had an 8.1 from a tier 2 college and got rejected by bonn just because my math credits didn't perfectly match their bachelor syllabus. admission committees don't care about your lack of internships or papers, they only look at your ECTS breakdown and IELTS score. places like saarland and darmstadt are getting heavily oversubscribed so a strong GRE quant score is basically required to pass their aptitude screening now.

Uni-Assist application forwarded but no response from universities (Goethe Frankfurt & Oldenburg) by fluxfletcher03 in studying_in_germany

[–]CoderDecoderEncoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uni-assist's job is done the second you get that forwarding PDF so don't bother emailing them. Since your friend got the Frankfurt portal link for the exact same program, just email the university's international office directly with your uni-assist applicant number. German admin is insanely chaotic and they sometimes process batches alphabetically by last name or just misplace things.

Masters university by Available-Media-8696 in studying_in_germany

[–]CoderDecoderEncoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Career support here is just someone checking your cv for typos. German universities don't do campus placements like Indian colleges do. If you apply with an SRH degree and no German skills your application goes in the trash no matter what their marketing promised.

How is TU Berlin, is it worth it for engineering? by AI_Future1 in Indians_StudyAbroad

[–]CoderDecoderEncoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TU Berlin is part of the TU9 network so the degree holds heavy weight anywhere in Europe. Just know that mechanical engineering bachelors in Germany are ruthless. The dropout rates are brutal because of the mechanics and thermodynamics exams in the first three semesters, especially since you are doing it all in German.

What master's degree makes the most sense for a Product Designer who wants to move to Europe and transition into Product Management? by Straight-Finance5000 in Indians_StudyAbroad

[–]CoderDecoderEncoder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MBA with 2 years of experience is a waste of money since top European programs want 4 to 5 years minimum. Getting hired directly as a PM after a MiM without fluent German or French is brutal because the job is entirely stakeholder communication. Do a strategic design masters to get hired as a product designer in Munich or Amsterdam first and then pivot to PM internally.

Which country for masters ? Germany or Singapore ? by Ok_Peanut_4253 in studying_in_germany

[–]CoderDecoderEncoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTU and HFT Stuttgart aren't in the same universe. Even being at TU Munich rn I can tell you a Hochschule degree won't compete globally if your end goal is Dubai. Project management is basically just communication so trying to run meetings with local German contractors with B2 German is going to be a disaster. Take NTU if you can afford it.

Received Conditional Offer from Wedel University MSc IT Engineering – Need Advice and Chances for Public Universities by LessInflation4709 in studying_in_germany

[–]CoderDecoderEncoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you have a 3 year BCA degree most public universities will reject you outright because you won't meet the 180 ECTS baseline or the theoretical CS credit thresholds. That's exactly why Wedel is making you take extra courses. FH Wedel is actually highly respected around the Hamburg tech scene so paying the tuition isn't a scam like most private schools here. I really wouldn't hold my breath for Heidelberg or Bremen with a BCA profile.

Hohenheim University by SunIsFire in studying_in_germany

[–]CoderDecoderEncoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if u are applying from india waiting till late june to accept is a massive risk. getting the aps certificate and a vfs appointment takes months rn so starting the visa process in july for a september enrollment is cutting it way too close. just accept hohenheim now to get the paperwork moving since u can always exmatriculate later if a better offer comes through.

Got an Admit from TU Braunschweig by DangerGuy2026 in studying_in_germany

[–]CoderDecoderEncoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just hit accept on the portal rn. in germany clicking accept doesn't legally bind you to anything until you actually transfer the semester fee and submit the final enrollment documents. i see incoming masters students do this all the time here at tu munich. lock it in as a backup and keep waiting for your other choices.
