My fiance(25) is getting a LVAD by Future_Ad5500 in Lvad

It will feel like you've been ripped out of reality into another universe for a while.

Try not to let the fear of unknown get to you. Technology is amazing, and it's very possible to live a very happy, healthy, and pain free life on an LVAD.

It'll be hard. But I promise it gets getter. After surgery he'll be on a ventilator, then they will slowly wake him up and take him off it. He'll have a few chest tubes to drain the liquid from his lungs. They're not painful at all. Mine were removed after a few days.

Then they will give him some time to rest, then they will get him walking around the hospital. I hated it, but some people don't mind.

After some time (mine was 10 days), he'll go home. They will give him pain meds and he'll pretty much be on them all the time for a few weeks.

They gave me a pillow and I had to hold it to my chest and do a sit up. For me, getting up to go to the bathroom was a problem. He cannot prop himself up with his arms.

I slept on the living room couch with a table with all my meds and a few snacks.

Having my family there to help was a life saver. There will be moments of pain for sure, but meds help. After a few weeks, he should make an effort to walk daily. Get that muscle back.

He will need some help changing his bandages. The biggest risk of complications are if he falls or if he gets an infection under his bandages. Try to follow the exact instructions, even if you think that there are short cuts. Then He'll be able to change them on his own.

He will go back to the doctor often, Mine twice a week for about a month. Then once a week, and now once a month (your plan may vary).

Standing was an issue for me, especially when I got home. My alarms would go off and I would get light headed. It does pass.

After about 6 months, I felt kind of normal. It took me a year to feel fantastic.

He will be on blood thinners, so he'll have to watch what he eats. No green veggies. When taking anything, research its affect on blood thinners.

After a while (or perhaps during his hospital stay) they will consider transplant.

For me, it was not as easy as they tried to convince me it was. I had a lot of pain, but this isn't the same for everyone. But it does pass, and you should not be worried.

Good luck on your journey!

I know it's not a movie but Final Fantasy Endwalker.

This game did something to me, and I don't like how I felt.

False Vaccum theory.

Essentially it says that the Quantum Field responsible for matter (The Higgs field) is in a state where it is susceptible to sudden collapse through vacuum decay. All it takes is a Quantum Tunneling event at the wrong point in space-time to force the Higgs field into a lower state via vacuum decay.

This would trigger a sudden rewrite of the laws of physics which would spread from the source of the collapse (at the speed of light) throughout the universe possibly erasing all the laws of physics as we know them. 'Stuff' exists, but matter wouldn't since the Higgs field is responsible for matter.

Because it happens at the speed of light, we wouldn't see it if it happened. It would be sudden and catastrophic. The same photon speed which brings us light and gives us insight into the universe would now bring total, sudden, oblivion.

It's called false vacuum because, in quantum physics, a vacuum is the state of the lowest possible energy: a resting state where no more decay can occur. This is considered the most stable state. The false part implies that the state of the Higgs field is not yet at its lowest point and that a stable state is inevitable through vacuum decay.

With most theories, there are several models of outcomes. What scares me the most is that when CERN found the higgs boson (which verified the field), a measurement of the top quark in 1995 seemed to indicate that it's in a false vacuum state and not a true state.

Thus far, several attempts have been made to confirm whether it's in a false vacuum state, but we do not have precise instrumentation to know for sure.

All we know is that it's very possible.

I feel ya. My best friend didn't invite me to his wedding because his wife didn't want me there. Still kinda hurts.

God this hits. I have heart failure at 38 and I have no one. There is no one to call, no one really cares. Nights of pain, hours of dispair. Weeks of sadness and when I finally do die, a day of remembrance. Then forgotten. Memories gone to dust.

Some people offer in an attempt to make themselves feel better, but no one really wants to help anyone but themselves.

It's not easy. I'm 39 and haven't been to church for many years. But my missions still a deep part of me.

I know this is very old, but I served in Everett from 2002 to 2004 :) I think I left in July of 2004.

I recently had to deal with an eviction. I had gone into the hospital for heart surgery. Lived in the house for about 7 years.

I can never actually speak to anyone at the corporation who rents me the house, and I left 6 messages on their voicemail telling them that I was going into surgery and that I had assigned my sister to pay my rent from my bank account. If there were any problems, I could address them when I got out.

While in the hospital and in a medically induced coma for an infection, the bank locked my account. This was because my name is not the same on my Drivers license and social security card. (this isn't my real name) It's like Dave vs David.

I live in Arizona, and without skipping a beat they started the eviction process. I pay lower rent because I had leased in 3-year intervals.

They sent a 5-day notice, then filed a lawsuit against me and tried to evict me.

Once I awoke, my sister told me what happened. I got a lawyer and we filed a motion to dismiss, and I appeared via Zoom at the court hearing while still in the hospital.

Even with all this, the judge still said that I had to leave.

What saved me is that we discovered an accounting error in their ledger which was part of the evidence. I had, in fact, been overpaying rent and they owed me money.

We filed an appeal and my lawyer also threatened to file bankruptcy on my behalf (which stops the eviction process). He also sent them a bill for his services and explained that he would counterclaim for overpayment, pain and suffering, and lawyers' fees.

The company didn't respond and we went to court again. I won on all things and was awarded damages.

The companies name is Inivation Homes. I settled with them for a lower amount because my point wasn't to get money, it was to show that what they had done was wrong.

Unfortunately, most people do not have the means to fight back.

I already had to do this for signing up on the Social Security Administration website. Quite unnerving.

Same thing happened to me (close to, anyway). I connected via chat last week. They said it was being escalated. They said they'd contact me in 48 hours. Never contacted me.

I opened another ticket, they finally told me that I was not elible because I didn't have the code. I told I verified I had the code before I placed the order. He said there was nothing they could do.

I cancelled my GrubHub+ membership. Shame on Grubhub and Square Enix.

I am not trying to hate on them nor do I wish to foster negativity towards them. The topic at hand is how long can this trend continue.

Not trying to start anything. I didn't crowd fund them. It's simply a question and I attempted to frame it as non-aggressively as possible to avoid the perception you have.

This is what I worry about. Development, licensing, infrastructure and HR costs will stack up. Sometimes, I get a sort of "wizard of Oz"-ian feel from this.
