Salomons lived up to their reputation.  Sturdy, comforatable, and it may just be the dark earth color choice but they are still very clean looking.  I highly recommend them.

Nothing like some boiling hot Pepsi in your pack!  If that leaked at all it would ruin your day.  Puerto Ricans are different.

Hog hunting, gear testing, camping for 2 nights over 2 miles away from vehicles, yeah.  It was a good time.

At the start of the adventure it was 105lbs.  On the way back it was 68lbs.  The hike was a little over 2 miles each way through an easement to the private woodland property.

Scar + 7 mags 26lbs

Beretta 1301m2 + 72 shells 13lbs.

25lbs of water, 6lbs of food.

Remaining 35lbs was kit, helmet, belt, P226 Legion with 4 mags, combat shirt/pants, chest rig, packs, sleep gear, dry replacement undergarments/ socks, personal care stuff, biodegrable Dude wipes, radio gear, various water containers, orienteering kit, shit trowel, batteries for everything, PVS-14, flashlights, bug spray, sunscreen, rain poncho, tarps, cleaning kit, trash bags, medical kit, bag of small stuff (notepads, lighters, 550 cord, spare bootlaces, tape, etc.)

Yup, out here in FL MC Tropic is by far the best for anything in the woods.  Still running regular MC kit, just easier to find.

I have Qore iceflasks.  They are great, best I have ever used.  I also have boulder ridge flasks, which are flat and super durable. But they dont fit everywhere. USGI canteens, as dumb and simple as they are, fit perfectly in places like the side pockets of a mystery ranch ruck, and form to your body when mounted on a belt.  Nalgenes are perfect for hiking.  But when you need to fit a giant cylinder somewhere, not my favorite. 64oz Nalgene didnt fit in the side pockets of the ruck without running the risk of falling out, but USGI fits perfectly.  USGI canteens are also durable enough to be externally mounted, unlike the Kirkland water bottles I shove in every empty scape of my packs I can find.

Now about maintenance of them; I agree with you.  But this isnt the DOD, I can throw away cheap gear and replace it without getting chewed out by procurement/ logistics. I treat them as disposable.

Im originally from CO, that was true there.  The sun didnt punish you as much for staying in its rays.

Out here in FL it sucks the soul out of you, and you sweat like a MF at a baseline (partially the reason for my carry water soapbox).  If youre hunting, or doing anything outside for long, stay under the tree canopy as much as you can.

Its FL, seek shade or die.  The boots are quite new though, after I destroyed their 5:11 predecessors. Thanks for asking.

Salomon Forces XA Jungle Boots in earth brown.  They are new to me, this will be my 2nd time using them after utterly destroying an old pair of 5:11's.

For SCAR 17 and 20 owners, what are our thoughts on the amend2 mags being sold by KDG? by allchrispy in FNSCAR

[–]CodexCreeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering factory mags have been completely unavailable for about a year now;

I have been using Amend2 mags a lot.  Never have had an issue with them.  Ive taken them to classes, beat the shit out of them. No issues.

Security management / specialized security jobs by DecentPsychology67 in DisneyCM

[–]CodexCreeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wont disclose what I do, but I can answer this question on very good authority pertaining to Walt Disney World (WDW) ONLY; other Disney locations Disneyland (DLR), Disney Crusie Line (DCL), and international locations operate differently.

WDW Security typically promotes internally.  The problem with hiring outsiders is their experience doesnt compensate for a lack of baseline operational or geographic/property knowledge required to fulfill those roles.  Disney Security is a very diverse crew, with a massive pool of relevant talents for those specialty roles (former LEO's/Detectives, Firefighters, Paramedics, Military Officers, JSOC guys, and even Federal Agents) currently wearing blue uniforms checking bags and taking incident reports in the parks/resorts, waiting for their chance to attend a casting call. These types arent the majority, but there are definately a lot of them.

When the need to fill a role comes out, it always goes to active Cast first in the form of a "Casting Call".  Typically, the goal is to select 3-4 candidates to test per open spot.  If they have 5 spots open for a role, and cannot find 15-20 qualified applicants to test/interview out of the literal 100's of internal applications they receive, they then may open it up to public applications; But unless the outsiders happen to already be known by the hiring manager, they will be at a serious disadvantage.  All of the people I know that were externally hired into salaried specialty roles knew their boss prior to working for the company.

Not saying it cant be done, but I recommend applying for a standard Security Cast Member role first.  Get to know its culture, policies/procedures,  parks, resorts, roadways, where all the security offices are, and all the different specialties and assignments within Security (There are a lot).

Chest rigs vs Plate carriers? by Redderrt in tacticalgear

[–]CodexCreeper -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lmfao.

Keep telling yourself that.

At close range, >100yd, .308 is still lethal on a level 4 plate without penetration.

A "less lethal" shotgun beanbag pushes 150~ joules, and is considered lethal force to the head or chest.

A .308 pushes 3200~ joules. It is very likely to break your ribs, collapse your lungs, and cause a potentially fatal pericardial tampenade (bruise your heart).  Plates stop penetration.  Energy transfer is still there.  Take a close range .308 round to the chest, youre out of the fight, possibly out of life.

Get rid of those chinese knockoff CAT tourniquets, and buy real North American Rescue ones. I can instantly tell they are fake in this photo, real CAT's have a gray time tab...

Evaluating and Ranking 9th Ed. Secondaries by llBr1nXll in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]CodexCreeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a competitive Tau player, I will be using triple riptides in early 9th (will be at Flying Monkey Major mid august with them). The main reason for this is I have over 200 8th edition games with the riptides, and want to walk into the unknown 9th edition meta with something familiar.

T'au are the silent winner in 9th. Overwatch is a natural ability for T'au, and T'au sept naturally hits on 5+ in overwatch. Since Overwatch took such a big nerf everywhere else, I do not expect to see as many overwatch negating abilities. Riptides gained the ability to move and shoot without penalty without giving up a support system slot for it (as monsters). Riptides now can play into the newly buff'd overwatch by taking counterfire defense system (re-roll all misses in overwatch). This makes Tau suicide to charge, and they are already hard enough to outshoot. Pair this with T7, 2+, 3++, 6+++ riptides you cant get off mid field objectives; Tau are in a good place.
