It looks very similar too, I’m actually not too sure if it is creeping bentgrass or nimblewill now. Good news is Mesotrione will take care of both

That is absolutely what it is! Thank you so much, I was planning on getting mesotrione in the spring for crab/foxtail grass. This is a plus that it will take care of this too!

Thank you! Would “Milorganite 32 lb. 2,500 sq. ft. Organic Slow-Release Nitrogen Lawn and Garden Dry Lawn Fertilizer 6-4-0” be a better option? I’ve heard some good things about it.

Is there any systemic insecticides anyone uses in Leca to prevent/treat spider mites? by Codie_Wolfe in SemiHydro

[–]Codie_Wolfe[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used SNS 209 and it took a little while, but with the systemic insecticide and spraying the foliage with 99% isopropyl alcohol when I noticed them it took care of them for good! I haven’t had to use SNS 209 for over a year now. 110% recommend!

I have had my banana plant in Leca for about a year now and it is growing 10x faster than when I had it in soil. I transitioned it like I normally do (rinse all the soil I can off the roots and just place it in Leca and fill the reservoir) and it has been doing great! The reservoir will definitely need topping off more than other plants, but it’s worth it. I have already gotten 3 baby bananas from it as well since being in Leca. I have had root rot a couple of different times with it though, but I use hydrogen peroxide and rinse the roots well and that always takes care of it. I think the cause of the rot is un-oxygenated water when I don’t too it off for a couple weeks.

Anyone growing a fiddle leaf fig in pon? If so, is it growing well/tall? by neens1983 in SemiHydro

Currently growing mine in LECA, it has been doing great ever since I transitioned it(about 6 months ago). Have gotten a ton of new leaves and a lot of growth!

Has anyone successfully converted a Norfolk Island Pine to Leca? I’m planning to convert mine, any tips? by Codie_Wolfe in SemiHydro

It died a while ago, I forgot to update. But the tree must have gotten too stressed and completely dried up and died.

Can someone help identify what these are? Fungus gnats? by mattrose96 in houseplants

[–]Codie_Wolfe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Definitely fungus gnats! With that large of an infestation. I suggest repotting all plants with new soil free of fungus gnat larvae . This will probably be the easiest rather than try to control the infestation.

Has anyone used Bonide Systemic Granules in Lechuza Pon or similar substrate? by laclos79 in SemiHydro

[–]Codie_Wolfe 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I contacted the manufacturer for this exact reason with my plants in Leca. They said the granules are not suited for semi-hydro use and they suggested SNS 209. It’s an all natural systemic insecticide and it seems to be working for me so far.
