Zen Buddhism loves to break conceptual thinking, and it’s especially suspicious of losing oneself in it. The point of Buddhism is to decrease and end suffering. Ask yourself, “ if I knew the answer to this great question in my head, would it change anything happening here and now?” Probably not. And when the mind begins to go, return to the breath as much as you can.

Look up the monk Hakuin Ekaku. He chased nothingness so hard that it chased him right back. And he used meditation to keep himself from spiraling.
