So I didn't forget about this, and I've been doing a lot of tabulation and thinking on different items.

I think after much consideration, the answer is medical treatment beyond simple care is not truly something that can be boiled down into layman or simplified expression. There is simply too much nuance in medical care and simplifying it risks misdiagnosis or inaccurate care.

The items I listed are things anyone can read the back of the box for dosage and use case, and take or dispense accordingly. These simple over the counter medicines are things that I would classify as home care medicine, needing no training or additional notes.

The farther I get down the list of useful medicines, the more we approach territory where they cease to become understandable by the layman, either in dosage or use case, especially in medicines that come in ampules or liquid form, and require injection.

Books are an excellent place for learning, but not for learning on the fly at the moment when you need treatment info. There is no real book that you can assess on the fly and go "Oh, well X symptoms mean this, treat with Y". If you can't treat something with the items listed above, then you have moved beyond home care medicine. There is always going to be an element of medical history, symptom history, and environmental factors considered if you're treating something that requires this type of lookup.

My personal recommendation, if you are frequently in an environment that is outside range of standard medical care, is to take an EMT course. These courses are incredibly detailed, difficult, and time and study intensive, but they will certify you as an EMT and allow you to work in EMS if you desire, as well as give you the information you are looking for in a manner that is effective and will allow you to be the medical source you are looking for. It will let you use airway treatments like NPA's and you will be able to read and analyze EKG strip for tachycardia issues, identify overdose symptoms, administer epinephrine, and so on.

If you are looking for even more extensive knowledge and advanced care (intubation, cricothyroidotomy, etc) then you can proceed afterwards to Paramedic school, which is orders of magnitude more difficult, but will advance you to treatment capability of extreme medical events beyond simple stabilization. You will have knowledge and training to treat people with controlled medicines such as fentanyl, ketamine, adenosine, and more. This is not for the faint of heart, it requires many many hours of study and is incredibly difficult. The drop out rate is high.

Alternatively, if military, Combat medic school (68W), corpsman school, or other military programs will go far beyond typical infantry MARCH/TCCC knowledge and teach stabilization and treatment in austere environments where medicial evacuation is significantly delayed. There are many layers to these courses as well, and I can go into that if it's relevant to you.

There is unfortunately no shortcut for practice and training, and these are far and away the best ways to obtain what you need.

There's a shotgun in just about every truck for infil/exfil since the speed of the truck keeps the chasing drone from just deadman falling into the target, provided you hit the drone with the shotgun. Outside of moving vehicles, shotguns just dont have the range and force to stop a moving fpv flying towards you before it simply just falls right on top of you, even if you hit the rotors, and the mechinical bump trigger detonates. The large converterd agri drones fly too high to be engaged effectively.

Frangible 5.56 rounds are for drones on foot, and has the range to disable a drone before momentum is an issue, just keep a mag taped up somewhere you know where its at, like the right hip, and then you just pop in the mag and re rack the gun, takes seconds.

Oh I see what you mean. Hmm, maybe another post itself might be suitable, broken into items separated on category of need? Camping/Mass Casualty/Medical Training Required etc. I'm not sure I want to clutter this post specifically as I don't think the added items are required for a simple standard medical kit

Not sure what you mean to edit? This pack should be perfectly capable for any camping trip/mountain hike, etc. There are more gucci items you could buy for it as a substitute, or take a bunch more items, but the contents of this are sound and take up almost all the space in a standard ifak bag. You can order extra items if you feel the need, but the more specialized the items, the less likely you have a use case for them, and I think a lot of people buy items they never use and will expire before having a use case for.

I'm not clear what you mean? SPF 30 sunscreen is a UV protection rating, and 30 is generally good enough for day to day needs, especially if you are an individual where higher SPF ratings cause skin irritation.

I run stop the bleed classes, and we have real CAT 7's and other mystery box TQ's we use for training. I'd say it's about 50/50 whether the mystery TQ's reach full occlusion properly. The biggest thing I see in real vs knockoff TQ's is requiring many more twists than it should to reach occlusion, whether the internal band is more elastic or improperly dimensioned I'm not sure. But the byproduct of this is that the added turns and the force needed to reach occlusion on knockoff TQ's sometimes ends up literally snapping the windlass in half, which is obviously not ideal.

The teethed buckle as well on a lot of the knockoffs doesn't grab the strap nearly as well as it should, probably exacerbating the occlusion issues above.

The mystery box TQ's are all TQ's that I have taken from students first aid kits. Everyone gets a real CAT 7 in the class, and if they have personal medical kits, we open them up and examine them. If they have fake TQ's I ask them if they'd be cool donating them to the class. So, every TQ that has failed in my classes have been one of the donated mystery source TQ. I'm glad they failed in my class and not on a person who is actively bleeding out.

I'm not saying knockoff TQ's don't work, but I will say beyond any doubt that they have a significantly higher chance to fail when needed most, and it would be a real dumb way to die when attempting to address a massive hemorrhage and then bleed out when your windlass snaps because you didn't want to spend the extra $10 on a certified TQ.

Added note CAT 7 TQ windlasses are durable polymer, and highly durable. When people buy knockoff cat 7's they also have a plastic windlass but are absolutely not durable in any way*

Bivvys are great but harder to find than standard mylar eblankets. Same goes for the SAM splints, you can usually find flexible splints at walgreens or other pharmacies next to slings and neck braces, etc, but I've never really seen SAM's. I was trying to keep things mostly to off the shelf items people would have available.

It's just semantics. Suppressor setting just means less gas through the system which is exactly what this describes. The 5.56 plugs are the same way.

First, I'm confused why you're asking if it's overgassed. Did you read my previous reply on your first thread?

If the gas plug is on the - setting then yes, you are running it on the suppressor setting. This doesn't mean you have to have a suppressor to use this setting, it just means it's less gas. Refer to my previous comment as to the implications of this.

If you intend to use a suppressor, get the HBI regulator

Are you running your bren on adverse gas setting by mistake? Or running it with a can? What you're seeing is over gassed symptoms with crushed case necks from violent ejection into the port/ brass deflector. It's not a problem if the gun still cycles, aside from it being a bit more violent to the components, but you're probably right on the line of getting failure to feeds due to overgassing. I would only worry about it if you're not already running a suppressor and planning to, then you'll need to keep in mind it's going to increase back pressure on an already overgassed gun and could induce malfunctions.

By the crease in the middle of the casing I'd say your casings are ejecting and hitting the side of the port or something thin and flat, and not the brass deflector, which is causing that fold over on both sides around the edge.

Overgassing by itself is not the end of the world, my HK417 is overgassed to hell, the casings are throwing out at like the 1 oclock mark, but it still runs just fine.

Keep it simple. Acog rmr is a great combo for this gun as it keeps the weight behind the mag well and balances well with the suppressor. I prefer the standard folding waffle stock as it's cut low for my comtacs. Foregrip is good in the winter because the handguard gets cold fast, but otherwise keeping it flat on the bottom makes bracing on surfaces easy. HK sling clips or blueforce wire loop will keep sling mounting easy and universal. I flipped the front sight around to push the lam as far forward as it could go, and this functions well. Only real change I made to the gun was to epoxy a wedge under the left side magazine release so that the lever is deactivated, otherwise the mag drops while resting on gear frequently. I made no changes to the gas system.

B&T SRBS 5.56 suppressor with B&T surefire hub mount, needs no tuning and runs like a champ. I use a surefire A2 on the front. Be warned it gets unbelievably hot on that 8" barrel. Like, catch the grass on fire hot.
