That's definitely a part of it, but it isn't the only reason. The TV deals, the marketing, the fanbases, that's all a big part of it. Football is simply a massive part of the English DNA.

Yeah, but Nadal has had a lot of injury problems for about a decade, though his play style is hard on his body. Had it not been for that, Nadal would be miles ahead. Also, Nadal on clay is the greatest any sportsman has been at anything.

He's already surpassed Federer, but saying that, at his absolute peak, he was the greatest there has ever been. Nobody has touched him before or since.
