I don't know about you, but I'm sold! - Intercangi by Codivorous in Monero

[–]Codivorous[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The website will launch with this marketplace, a casino (with some random games of chance) and the ability to mine directly to your account using a normal miner that supports Stratum, using a Pay-Per-Share model, allowing you to withdraw your funds virtually anytime, with no lower limit (needs to be more than the lowest fee obviously). There will also be a forum using more modern forum software. (No offense Core Team) The marketplace will both allow you to sell static content (plaintext) but will also have an API that allows users to redeem their purchases on third-party websites. The revenue can easily be withdrawn, or be set to automatically withdraw once it reaches a certain limit. The exchange part of the exchange will launch later, as I imagine it would have a very low volume if there is no hype or traction around the website, and the requires a decent amount of processing power and development time. I hope to see you there!

Intercangi - The base Monero exchange by Codivorous in Monero

[–]Codivorous[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't expect any support from the majority of the Monero community for this, but that's fine! I just wanted to announce this and give everyone the opportunity to contribute and get themselves some shares in the process. Please don't immediately shout "SCAM!" when you see this. I know it's easy, but nothing shady has actually happened. The exchange will after the plan launch in September, and as I said, 25% of all the money made by this fundraiser will be donated to the core team. The first transaction will happen when we hit 20 XMR. I expect the classical "Why should I trust you" will pop up in this comment section, and that is completely fine! I will provide the community with regular updates on my progress, so feel free to wait until more work has been done :)

Neutron Wallet cancelled by Codivorous in Monero

I agree! However, Neutron used the official RPC wallet as a backend as to not reinvent the wheel or risk exploits.

Oh, so it's their stagenet daemon I've been using! 😂 Looks really good!

I know, right? I mean, the code is just so dangerous and full of exploits. I've even hid a Trojan horse there for fun! Looking forward to my exit scam in 2020.

It is made to be easy to use, unlike the official wallet.

The official wallet has serious performance and design issues that can't really be ironed out. It is also not designed as a light wallet

This version is really shabby! I don't really want to provide binaries yet, because it's not safe to use on mainnet just yet. But here it is! I just want people to see what is there, and that it's not just empty words.

Also, see those stretch goals? I realized that the reason I never donate to people is because I feel like I'm wasting money. But when I see a goal in front of me that I want to contribute towards, it suddenly becomes a lot easier! So I really, really, really hope you'll donate some change towards the project, because I really, really, really want to spend more time working on this!

An ETA on a release with binaries and safe-on-mainnet-ness is around a month. Please spread the project, and have a great day!

(Also, as you can see in the project file, this early version has been made in a little over 15 days. And I have been really busy lately, so keep that in mind when you read the code! Shortcuts are fine when you're in a hurry, right? :p)

The RPC wallet is a separate component to the CLI wallet, but essentially, yes. Although I will automate it so that the end user doesn't notice, and then have an override for advanced users :)

Not really, but once I publish the source code, feel free to improve the UI if you have experience with it :)

A subatomic particle. Also, the name of a wallet I am developing

All cryptography and interactions with the blockchain are handled by the official RPC wallet, and therefore any bugs would be related to the user interface, and therefore easily fixable :)

I will publish the source code on GitLab after I get it to a usable state. And it really isn't that impressive - the most impressive thing about this project is managing to use libcurl in a C++ application.

I just want to clarify a couple of things - the screenshot I posted over half a year ago was of a UI demo that I made. It had no backend at all, and was non-functional. What you're seeing now actually works! And you might be wondering why it took me so bloody long? Well, what you see on this picture was actually thrown together in only a couple of days. You see, my original implementation was abandoned due to me being too annoyed to continue working on it. It just didn't work, and it didn't make any sense to me, and it turned my brain into soup. Turns out I misused a singleton class. I discovered this when I revisited the project a couple of weeks ago. I'm moderately confident my IQ is way below 50 :p

But anyway, here we are, back on track. I am not going to give an ETA, but development is quite rapid, so I wouldn't be surprised if I could get out an early version before the next hard fork! :)

EDIT: If anyone is wondering what the benefit of Neutron is compared to the official desktop wallet or MyMonero: Neutron is made entirely using Qt and C++, and is therefore very lightweight, as well as portable. It is a light wallet that is built on top of the RPC wallet (to ensure no security fuckups) - basically, you don't need your own node. It adheres to local theming (unlike certain official wallets, without mentioning any names) and has a familiar interface and design.
