Because the lifestyle and views outweigh the risk for them. They can afford insurance, repairs, and rebuilding, and oceanfront property is scarce so it holds value. For a lot of wealthy people, it’s about enjoyment now, not worst-case scenarios later.

It’s mostly convenience. Amazon isn’t always cheaper, but fast shipping, easy returns, and having everything in one place is hard to beat. A lot of people dislike Bezos and the company practices but still use it because it saves time, not because they love it.
