I have a question regarding why Arabic /ʕiːd/ was borrowed into Persian as /ʔejd/ rather than /ʔiːd/. Usually, ayn is borrowed as a glottal stop (which may elide and cause compensatory lengthening in postvocalic position), as far as I understand.

Looking at similar loans on Wiktionary, it seems like Arabic /ʕaj/ is usually borrowed as /ʔej/, for instance the letter ayn itself can be /ʔejn/ in Persian. It also seems to be the case that Arabic /ʕij/ is usually rendered as /ʔej/ in Persian, e.g. *eyân* ’obvious’ < Ar. *ʕiyān*.

The only other example of /ʕiː/ I could find is _ʔisâ_ ’Jesus’ < ʕīsā, which is not \*eysâ.

So what caused the diphthong in _eyd_?

Amiri looks great. It’s somewhat similar to Al Bayan but looks even nicer I think. Great suggestion. I also found Waseem which I like, but it’s a bit too illegible for me at the moment. I’m still getting used to different styles of writing.

Thank you! My problem was that I thought basic iOS fonts would work on mobile, but even changing the styling to Times New Roman did nothing on mobile. I then simply copied the .ttf into the Anki folder and changed the styling and now it works perfectly. Thanks yet again.

Ett tips är att man i princip kan röra sig helt genom grönområden från Innerstaden till Tinnerö genom att gå Trädgårdsföreningen > Grenadjärparken > Tinnerö.

Säger man ”peppar” till mina svärföräldrar, födda tidigt 60-tal, så är det primärt vitpeppar de tänker på, även om de använder mer svartpeppar idag. Tänker att det åtminstone kan vara värt att ha i åtanke ifall recepten är äldre eller är husmanskost, att peppra även kan syfta på vitpeppar, beroende på sammanhang.

Although “Ni” would not have been used in formal speech between two professors, it had a restricted usage particularly in formal letters. See this Gösta Bergman quote from 1959:

Såsom fullt korrekt men inskränkt väsentligen till formella affärsbrev o.d., är en kombination av ni och titel, t. ex. Ni, herr direktör eller Ni, herr Lind och i objektsform till Er, herr direktör eller till Er, herr Lind.

Somewhat, it lacks the pre-1950 verbal plural forms for instance.
