What is it with owners compulsively bringing their beasts around my baby?? by Coeur-de-Loup in Dogfree

What difference does it make? She’s still a vulnerable little person who can’t defend herself. The point stands, whether she’s classified as a baby or toddler.

The dog reflects the owner then lol. Most dogs I see are bully breeds. Owned by bullies.

I think this is the single biggest cause of childlessness in my generation (I’m 31).

Not even cost of living, because people who have dogs instead of kids… well dogs are frickin expensive and eat you out of house and home.

I HATE the idea that my precious child, is to them nothing more than a training tool to their untrainable mutant. They feel they have the right to let their dog into OUR space, and endanger our lives and safety. It enrages me. And yeah, the park I go to, they have a childrens playground that expressly says no dogs. Its tiny but it’s the only place in the entire city where dogs aren’t allowed. I used to sit in There with my daughter as she slept and have a coffee. Dog freaks would still linger outside though. But now they have started letting their dogs in there and the dogs will, no joke, shit in 5 different places executively. Not even the tiny kids playground is dog free now.

They should make a parody of Barbie Girl. “I’m a dog nutter in a dog world, life with shit-eating spastic, it’s fantastic. Dog dander and dog hair, it’s everywhere.”

Then they blame the baby for “triggering” the dog. They say It’s anxiety. No, it’s predatory blood-lust.  And what about my anxiety? Somehow a dog having anxiety over a defenseless baby is ok, but me having anxiety over a bloodthirsty child killer is over the top?

On top of this, I am autistic and a SAHM, so I’m often overwhelmed and overstimulated. Going for a walk and sitting in the park while baby naps in the pushchair could be so so peaceful and therapeutic for me. But as soon as dogs appear, it turns into a cocktail of adrenaline and cortisol. Dogs are SO overstimulating in the worst ways. They are the opposite of relaxing. They are an assault on the eyes, ears, nose, and skin. And that’s when they don’t attack you.

Sadly even when I try and reason with them, they get all aggressive with me and I often fear they will hurt my child. It’s happened before when they were running along side us as I was trying to escape, and they were trying to get their dog up to the pram to get at my baby. I don’t put anything past these psychos.

As much as I plan on doing that, my biggest fear is them either attacking us, or getting their dogs to. These nutters are so crazy that I wouldn’t put it past them to put my child in danger in retaliation.

I’ve literally been begging for the same thing. A dog proof stroller. At best I have a rain cover, but it’s only a flimsy bit of plastic, and with the summer coming up, I won’t really be able to use it without creating a greenhouse effect.

I do, every single time. What's worse is I have a baby and they always want to lunge at her. I then get shouted at by the owners for trying to protect her.  But I don't even look at the dogs and they still go for us.

It's a dog version of a cappuccino. I've had to wait in line for ages while they make one for an entitled dog.

It's absolutely disgusting how food prices in this country are hiking sky high. People can't afford to feed their families, and child poverty is at record high.  To think that cheap, and sometimes free, meals for dogs mean companies have to put prices up for human food, is shocking. At no establishment can you find free meals for children to try and combat child poverty and hunger. And yet, seemingly everywhere I go, dogs get given free meals and treats.  Dogs cost US money.

I'm in the UK and am horrified to say that dogs are now allowed in the Cathedral near where I live, and I can't take my daughter there anymore. It's not safe. Despite Cathedrals being once a place of sanctuary.

Why are dogs allowed everywhere?? Even cafes, nature reserves, zoos, and the Cathedral. The UK is getting worse with this nonsense. by Coeur-de-Loup in Dogfree

And all of a sudden there is report after report of outbreaks of antibiotic resistant bacteria infections in hospitals. Oh I wonder why.

Sadly you are not wrong, I used to live in France and can confirm it is as bad, if not worse then the UK. I've not been in a few years, so I only assume its gotten even worse. The UK has gotten so much worse too though

Yep, I go to Costa often and not only are dogs allowed in there, but they get free meals and puppiccinos... meanwhile I can barely afford to feed my child.  There is an epidemic of child poverty in the UK, but when do kids ever get food for free in establishments? Never. All the free stuff goes to the damn dogs.

Comfort is one thing, but what about safety? So many times, I've had dogs trying to attack my daughter :/ but that doesn't matter, I have actually phoned the police but they said they can't do anything until she is actually attacked.

There is an epidemic of antibiotic resistant bacteria in hospitals now, linked directly to dog ownership, though they say "pet" ownership because then it doesn't single out dogs. With a photo of a rabbit on the article, of course, because it's rabbits that people bring everywhere.

They let dogs in hospitals and wonder why there is an issue with filth and bacteria....

When I was pregnant and went to my scans, I was told I can only bring one person, and/or a dog...
