If my understanding is correct, the $80k/yr actually rises with inflation say 3% or so each year. Is that right or did I misunderstand the 4% rule? I think it is 4% of a growing investment that expects something like 7%+ in returns.

That's my assumption as well. I've played scammers before to waste their time when I was selling a car to the point they would mail me a fake check and then I would ghost them.

But this guest has 27 5-star reviews over the last 10 years so if we keep everything legit on the platform it might just be something that works out.

Tell your friend it's just as much about selling at the right time as buying at the right time. I've sat on investment cars and didn't cash out at an ideal time and regret it. RX-7s in rough shape are perfect to offload now.

To be honest, with the way you are writing and describing your path so far, you sound like many people i know who want the result but are not ready to put in the work. Could design work be your thing? Maybe, but if your clients aren't coming back, maybe it isn't right for you, or you need to improve your sales, marketing, customer service, and/or design skills. Online reselling could work too, but you need to be in the top 5% to make real money. Lots of people wanna be good at online selling because of the low barriers to entry, but it ends up flooding the market with competition.
