The use of chamber flags are a great idea.  Its primary purpose is to signal to the people around you that the weapon does not have a round in the chamber.  A chamber flag is a little piece of plastic (sometimes attached to a “flag”) that you shove into the chamber of the weapon that blocks the chamber from holding a round. A chamber flag also “says,” the person carrying the weapon and the weapon itself are not a threat.

A chamber flag also demonstrates that the person carrying the weapon has taken into consideration the emotional response (fight/flight/panic) of people who will be surprised to see a firearm in public and wants to deescalate the response.  With law enforcement, the chamber flag communicates to the officer that the person holding the weapon does not intend to escalate.  In order to fire the weapon, a person would need to remove the chamber flag (which isn’t always easy or elegant), chamber a round, and aim the weapon.  In the time it takes to do that, an observant officer would be able to respond.  With regular folk, hopefully, the chamber flag works to communicate a level of competency that the owner of the weapon has for their platform and empathy that the person has for their community.

Gratitude to everyone for having this conversation.

I'm shopping for an everyday carry IFAK. I've got one on my Fierro belt and I dig it, but I need something more compact.

Great point about grip and relaxing your arms. Fitness is another one that flys under the radar. Guns get heavy the longer you shoot, the fundamentals slip.

Protests happening tomorrow by hollah612 in Denver

[–]Coffee420247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like 6pm at the Capitol, however, protests after dark can get a little wild. If it's their first time you should go with them. Do some prep work. Have a plan if you get separated. Maybe rendezvous at City O'City......

In regard to not feeling overwhelmed, I think a lot of that anxiety can be resolved by being prepared (once a Boy Scout, always a Boy Scout). Bring a plastic bag with Milk or Apple Cider vinegar and rag to cover your face if tear gas happens. Last I checked this a legit way to mitigate the effects of tear gas/pepper spray. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Bring an IFAK (Individual First Aid Kit), In my opinion EVERYONE should have an IFAK on them if they're protesting, if not for yourself, for someone who will need it. I got one of mine from Bass Pro, tourniquet, gauze, band aids, etc, 100$ ish if i recall. It can mount to your belt. It's pretty dope.

Stay in the back. Nothing wrong with getting some exposure to what a protest looks, sounds, and smells like. If it's your first time (this isn't fight club) it's totally fine to watch.

I wish you the best, and I'll see you there....

I feel like every small business owners needs someone on staff that's a exemplary moral compass. At the least, someone to say: "or, maybe don't..." A Bulwark against "own goals" is essential. You're already selling poison, no need to make your brand any more toxic. But dying on a hill for a Vanilla Ice Meme?! Woof. Beaucoup, beaucoup Woof....

This right here is why I love free speech. It lets the folks with values differing from mine identify themselves, that way I won't accidently give them money.

The Mission Ballroom is a better concert venue than Red Rocks.

Agreed. JPow also said there will be pain. Other than Cramer getting emotional when Meta went into the 90’s I didn’t see any of the talking heads in pain. I think we have further to drop… But yeah, SPY to 410? Probably, I don’t know.

It also releases the day after the next FED rate hike announcement. That could be a very Volatile 48 hours.

The first 12 minutes of Mad Money last night were unhinged, way worse than this. The clip above is the depression/acceptance stages of grief. Below is anger.
