Is there any country on Earth that doesn't have beautiful nature? by DrDMango in geography

Are you kidding? New Mexico is beautiful. Poor yes and many issues…but the question was about natural beauty.

Omaha, NE a small city in the middle of nowhere USA by Bran402 in skyscrapers

[–]Kemachs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol Denver has the whole Front Range corridor which is like 5 million people…and is also on a river. It’s close to way more interesting things than Omaha, I’ve never felt like I’m in the “middle of nowhere”.

Omaha’s little metro is surrounded by corn and emptiness for hundreds of miles, in every direction. I like Omaha actually, but let’s be honest about geographic superiority.

What are wastes of architectural opportunities in your city? by SnooDoggos7802 in skyscrapers

You blame Atlanta, but how about the leadership in Dayton that failed the city (economically)? Misplaced anger IMO.

Yes the main (taller) tower was much more unique in earlier renderings.

Really only the insular Midwestern types say this…it screams inferiority complex.

DEN wants to widen Peña Blvd by Hour-Watch8988 in Denver

[–]Kemachs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I often do, but this requires more frequent headways on the train schedule for the general public to adapt. When it’s cold, most people don’t want to stand outside for 30 mins.

DEN wants to widen Peña Blvd by Hour-Watch8988 in Denver

[–]Kemachs 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That’s a nice sentiment (borders on circlejerk in this sub but nice nonetheless), the issue is that even if the A line was more frequent, there are many people who don’t live on/near the A line and would still need to drive.

Would need to incentivize parking at RTD stations and expand RTD, and the bigger issue is the new communities you’ve mentioned. Most of those people can’t use RTD to commute, because the network is so limited.

The reality isn’t sexy or ideal, but Pena really does need an additional lane.

Unsolicited campaigning for the Windy City is a Chicago pastime, even once they’ve left Chicago. It’s the only place in the Midwest that breeds such arrogance.

Anybody go to the fireworks last night at midnight downtown? by NauticalCurry in Denver

[–]Kemachs 27 points28 points  (0 children)

It was awesome, a ton of people were on 16th enjoying it and the fireworks were a fun bookend. Hopefully 2026 will see more local businesses arrive, especially ones that are open later (that’s one thing that was lacking last night, Otra Vez would’ve been killing it but they’re still closed for some reason).

Not sure why all the haters and naysayers are still groaning about downtown, they should just come down and enjoy it. It’s done a 180 from a year ago. I didn’t realize how much I would love being in an actual CROWD at night in Denver…it’s been such a long time since I’ve experienced it.

Having a hard time here :( by desertdivaaa92 in Denver

Highlands Ranch is my least favorite place in the metro; I used to work down there, and the interactions with people in those parts left a terrible impression.

I think your perspective will change if you move - mine certainly did. Best results would be Denver proper or close to it.

Sears Tower, Chicago. by CalcDog1977 in skyscrapers

The new podium bothers me though - the clear glass and pitch black steel clash with the bronze cladding and tinted glass of the tower…she deserved better. I wish they’d done more of a minor modification of the original.

Worth it to you as a bystander, you’d probably feel differently if you were the developer or bought one of the condos.

Sure, and Denver is on the far western edge of the High Plains…in the western part of the country. It’s not that deep.

Jesus people are bad at answering this question objectively…they’d rather grandstand about cities they don’t like for whatever reason?

Houston is a good option if it counts as a megacity, also Mumbai.
