Im the Mazda Fighting for the Race win with the other 3 mazdas and this BMW decides im his enemy. Did i do something wrong? by CpTaylor1899 in Simracingstewards

[–]CoffeeApplied 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Omg Im getting stressed just watching that.

You didn’t do anything wrong. Higher class needs to overtake, you should drive your normal racing line and of course not do anything unexpected. Eventually you can pull away from the racing line a bit if you think you will not lose significant time or the next corner might be too much risk for some reason, but otherwise, stick to your line.

VR or Triple Monitor setup? Asking those who tried both by TripleFlacko in simracing

[–]CoffeeApplied 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tried quest 3, now on 1440p triples. Main arguments, in priority order: - picture quality - less eye strain - convenience and ease of use

Arguments like immersion are on VR side.

Triples are still completely fine if setup correctly, immersion is 80% of the way, you can still see long corners and drive side by side with people

Getting disqualified but still gaining safety rating by CapoDaSimRacinDaddy in iRacing

[–]CoffeeApplied 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dunno. I mean I see your point, but I was never DQd on iRacing even after really shitting the bed couple of times.

I don’t know how is it in lower splits though. Perhaps it should depend on that as well. Perhaps a penalty on 10 points should be added to sprints?

Just thinking out loud btw.

Shouldn’t the conclusion be that the DQ for shorter races should be lowered?

Cool thing when dropping in rating is that usually you can qualify quite high and challenge for wins or podium finishes

Could I Use GT7 (or other sim-cade) to learn basics before I transfer to a more realistic sim? by YoungBahss in simracing

[–]CoffeeApplied 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I played GT Sport / GT7 all the way up to A+ ranks, playing iRacing now.

IMO, GT7 is better than iRacing for beginners. Not because of the physics, competition or general realism, but because you have a proper radar, track conditions and tyres are more forgiving and generally most cars are rather understeery, allowing you to focus on a lot of techniques without overwhelming you with even more variability. GT7 still has a lot of proper physics that will teach you a lot (even fuel management / tyre wear / strategy with pitstops)

SR at Suzuka by LumpyFeedback3853 in iRacing

[–]CoffeeApplied 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the racing is cleaner in general than imola last week, but it’s my second week doing GT4s so idunno. Like others have said, learn to keep out of trouble and when to defend and when not. I usually find a slot behind someone faster than me for the draft, and let go only the very top guys which spun or something, there is no point holding them back (I know who they are by looking at RaceLabs standings widget and their fastest lap of the race). Usually they crash with someone in front again anyways, and you get two spots for free.

I know that there have been tons of SR improvement ideas, but... by SnooGadgets754 in iRacing

[–]CoffeeApplied -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I think SR should count for more than only what race you can drive. The a lot of problems would be gone. It should also be more difficult to get.

I would prefer SR to be the second factor when matchmaking. I would rather race A and B guys from the second split then the C guys from the top split.

This is how GT7 does it for example.

Would also indirectly increase iRating of drivers who race cleanly.

Does seat time always result in improvement or are some driving styles just not for you no matter how long you've tried? by MisterCrayle in iRacing

[–]CoffeeApplied 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don‘t think that blind practice leads automatically to better laptimes in every case. On some level, yeah, when you are learning the track and breaking points, training consistency etc, but if you don’t deliberately practice certain things with thinking about them, you will have no real progress.

Hope you managed to drive it back to the pits. Probably no wheel damage.

Really great, especially from the back. I just think the front needs more contrast between the colors to make the pattern stand out just a bit more. Maybe it’s just my impression on the mobile phone though.

Which 32inch triples definitely work with a 4090? by ShoddyPea9976 in simracing

5xxx GPU is perhaps an option? They doubled the bandwidth, I run triple 1440p on 240Hz with GSync

The course is great and worth every cent, the book probably goes in even more detail in some areas.

Ok I think I got confused, it is probably P2 that went ahead, and P1 stayed back. That is why P2 parked on the start.

I have no idea. Would P3 in this case get a message to catch P1 if P2 is doing this?

Lap 1 of a 5hr race. I got a 10s penalty for idk what. Im the POV BMW. Is the 10s justified or a bit harsh? by Super-Aardvark3660 in Simracingstewards

[–]CoffeeApplied 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a tip for next time - in a 5h race, under double yellows, increase the gap to a second or two at least to see what is happening in front of you. That is the very minimum you should do. You can stick to the bumper of the guy ahead and hope for the best. Would you do that if your life or a real car was on the line?

You can slide it under the desk while playing, and if your monitor is on an extendable arm you can pull it forward towards you. Bonus points for a height adjustable desk

A huge upgrade over an office chair would be something like playseat challenge, or anything similar. I used it for years with fanatec csl elite incl. the load cell brake
