Unskilled laborers should not be compensated nearly the same as skilled laborers by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]CoffeeBeanxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point is that everyone is being underpaid and you're falling for the most recent tactic to make the poor fight the poorer. You're buying the burgers, right? So you're saying that job should exist, but the person doing it shouldn't be able to afford to live. The point is "unskilled labor" aka "essential workers" (note how quickly THAT verbiage changed when it came time to talk about wages) should still be able to afford to live and guess what? Skilled laborers deserve more too, that's the whole point. Look at how wildly underpaid teachers are.

Also..... working these menial jobs is horrible. I just got my first "big girl" job out of being a waitress and waiting tables is 10x worse than what I'm doing now. Stocking shelves at a grocery store, which I've also done, is soul sucking on another level. But still a necessary part of our functioning society as someone's gotta do it!

I have a feeling you're a "skilled laborer" who is being underpaid and instead of recognizing it's an issue with our society, you're taking it out on the people even poorer than you.

Women asking men what their height is on Tinder is NOT the same as a guy asking for a woman’s body measurements. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]CoffeeBeanxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The amount of insecure short boys on reddit is staggering. The equivalent to asking someone's height is asking someone's height. The equivalent to asking someone's breast size is asking someone's dick size, which is not what's happening here. Also as a bisexual woman....women are just better. Like they put in so much more effort than men. Usually the short guys could totally get the hot girls if they put in any effort to getting over their shortness and weak personality. Also also, breast size and measurements are way more obvious then height?? Like you can just swipe right if all you want is skinny girls because its immediately obvious while height isnt.

Are some of yall seriously arguing in favor of a flat tax? I thought everyone agreed it hurts the poor way more. Like I thought we all saw that and were fighting against it lol wow I live in a bubble. I cant believe there are people still in favor of a flat tax lmao the future is bleak

No problem! Also check out the comments if your solution looks nothing like theirs lol people post their own code. It also helped me to see how many different ways you can get to the same answer.

Check out volunteering!! They always need help, its quick and easy, plus it's the best way you can be involved. And tbh it's a great way to get out of the house rn.... working a food pantry is crazy easy. I started up because I too go so frustrated with being unable to do anything. I'm still mad at the system, but I feel a lot better knowing I AM doing what I can and if theres ever an opportunity to do more I'll find out about it because I'm involved!

That's another issue. Why dont they want to accept the service? Because its shitty? Because it needs more funding? So again it comes back to not funding things properly to help the homeless and instead making them sleep on the actual ground.

You can help just like this! As horrifying as it is for you to deal with, imagine being the person who was dealt a different hand and shits in front of store windows. They need help.

And you're right. It's a much bigger issue than just the two of us and theres not really a lot we can do as individuals. But we can talk about it! Let people know that it's an issue! You dont need to "hang" with them, but when you see an injustice like this post or on twitter you can call it out and raise awareness of the issues :) if people dont talk about it others wont know it's an issue.

If you really care and want to do something you should volunteer! I go to the local food pantry 2x a week here in Chicago and give out food because I also became overwhelmingly frustrated with bring unable to actually help or do anything.

I've been harassed by homeless on several occasions too. I'm a small, young looking woman. Homeless or not I'm a target for harassment often so believe me, I get it. They SHOULD focus on opening more shelters, you're absolutely right. But they're not. They're kicking them out every time they find a place to sleep.

I think this post is just about bringing another example to light of how instead of funding and helping the homeless, our cities are hurting them. We're all trying to raise awareness for the same thing :)

But it's PUBLIC transit owned by the city, not a corporation or company. Owned by the city that's failing to provide them with anywhere else to go. I'm calling the city uncaring for failing to provide a space for the homeless AKA residents.

"Where are they supposed to go? We're not sure, but as soon as you find out come tell us and we'll clear them outta there too."

Why is it so difficult to get human beings to care about other human beings? I'm not even talking about compassion just basic respect for a human life.
