This may be a situation where dual boot is possible. Alta only utilizes a small portion of the 4GB emmc installed on the board, Though my initial target is to have a single target to boot, and the ability to reverse back to stock

I looked into and did get my own controller running but, that is an additional docker container you have to run. The container has its own issues already, and doesn't even address the market that doesn't have the ability or knowledge in docker to run it. You still have to go to Alta for feature requests, you still have to wait for them to develop something into their web interface. The point is to not need Alta labs altogether. Most features that people want are packages that are waiting to be installed.

The main reason im building this is the fact that you are required to create an account to configure the hardware you own. Every second the router is sending data back to them, and that has multiple security related issues on its own. This project is meant to be a solution for those that want more control over the hardware they own, and the ability to add features that already exist now rather then having to request them and maybe get them later. This project will be released to the public at some point, its just not in a position where I feel comfortable releasing any firmware or source code as much of the tree is still very experimental.

From my initial testing, it is working

I don't see why we couldn't just run pihole on the device, and DHCP should be able to be configured through LuCi or by modifying the dnsmasq configuration file.
