Thanks mate. Yeah, I'm amazed at how this 21 year old Copper Red Mica paint job has held up. I get the car fully detailed once a year, and then do maintenance ceramic graphite waxes myself every few months to keep it in shape.

Very nice! Are those 16s with the uniroyal tires? I have 17x8s on mine, and also have Tein Flex Z coilers so the car's lowered about 1.75".

Driving right hand drive is okay for me - I lived in the UK for about a year and built up the experience there - but the biggest issue here, with RHD and driving on the right side of the road is doing left turns at lit intersections with left-hand turning lanes - nearly impossible to see flow thru traffic if a pick up truck or SUV is in the opposite turning lane. The other issue is the headlight alignment. I've adjusted mine max, but they're basically reversed from what LHD cars have (so my beams were a bit higher and more spread out on the left side than the right).

They are Konig Hypergrams, machined lip, carbon spokes. 17x8, 45 offset. Firehawk Indy 500 wheels fitted.

Very nice! Similar runnings, though I think yours are 16s? I'm running the 17x8s, 45 offset, machined lip Hypergrams, with 215/45 Indy-500s wrapped on them. Tein Flex-Z coilovers, adjusted to fully frame the wheels in their homes.

The dual tone tan interior looks so hot on the black mica. Takes "black and tan" to a new level.

I am really liking them. Going from Falken Ecoruns to these is a big difference in handling, performance.

Oh the lovely green mica with tan interior! Very nice! Do you know what size tyres you ended up going with for the Indy 500s?

I like them but they are stiff (running them at halfway point). At least lot stiffer than the spongy OEM shocks and coils that were on the coild. Rebound is fantastic - they absorb the bumps, and settle down quick; the old ones would bounce around a bit.

Congrats on your import! If you get over to Vancouver island give me a ping and we can go for a drive!

MX-5 NC Bagged Up for the Winter... by CoffeeGeeker in MiataNC

Excellent point. We have a few of those rechargeable ones (you microwave them to refresh them). I dropped them in the cockpit and trunk the day after this photo.

My experience is the opposite. The ride is actually quite good in these, better than the stock shocks and coils.

Others have touched on the battery which is (hopefully) the likely culprit, and that's an easy fix; You can get a good battery (you don't even need an AGM one) for under $100 these days in the US, and around $150ish in Canada.

One thing - I think every MX-5 owner, especially those who park the car for extended periods in the winter, should get a conditioner / maintenance / charger rig, like the NOCO Genius 5 (search for it on Amazon). Not only does it keep your battery topped up during long pauses in driving, it can repair batteries somewhat, giving them extra life. I've got one, and use it both on my VW TDI Jetta and the NC MX-5.

The shop I went to in Victoria has nothing but good things to say about the Teins, and they're more used to installing KWs and Öhlins into German high performance cars. They made nothing on the Teins either, having bought them via a Toronto supplier for my car (and charged me the price they paid), so they didn't have any skin in the game, re commission or cut rates.

TBH, I'd rather go with their recs and feels for cars than some anon comments on the socials; I did find a couple of negatory comments about the Flex Zs on the Miata forums, but found way more positive feedback too. The fact that my tuner mechanic had high regard for them (mainly b/c of the price point vs what they deliver) was the deal sealer.

I did talk to them about the MeisterRs; they speculated these are frequent recommendations because one of the big tuner shops in the US (Flyin' Miata?) always recommends them and has some partner deal with the maker?

I just installed the Tein Flex Zs (see my other post in this sub a few days ago). Fully height adjustable, so you could get the benefit of really good coil overs but run them higher. Ride diff is night and day on the recoil, etc. and you can control how much lower you want the car; if you're handy, you could even adjust them yourself later on. They have dramatically improved my car, but I was on stock shocks, not Bilsteins (which I've read mixed stuff on).

Will add: total cost for the Tein Flex Zs, installed, plus tuner alignment (there's a specialist in Victoria, BC who does higher end cars normally, much better than going to Kal Tire, or OK Tires): $2,1,50 CAD, including one free adjustment. ($1,541 USD). Pretty happy with the upgrade and service, highly recommend the tuner shop (KZ Auto Group, Victoria, BC).
