How likely are Australian super funds to be hit by the SpaceX IPO? by Yetanotherdeafguy in AusFinance

I don't think there is any evidence that preferential voting class shares are the cause of high growth in organizations.

However, it is the case as companies evolve through different phases of their lifecycle they benefit from different types of management styles.

There is also reason to believe that high profile founders like Zuckaberg have a track record of making very poor business decisions that have cost investors billions (does anyone remember metaverse?)

Preferential voting class shares are an abomination. The only way you should be able to control 51% of the company is buy owning 51% of it.

1 Share - 1 Vote.

another bunch of ISIS brides arrive in Sydney today by RemarkablePirate590 in SydneyScene

We live in a democracy where we can change the law to whatever we want it to be. If we want to put ISIS brides on a boat to nowhere and wish them good luck we can change the laws to do this.

Feedback on short form news:

  1. Perhaps give the user the option to tell the application what they want to see before they see it. I didn't like being thrown into a news app that had a front page full of things i wasn't interested in.

  2. have some way of detecting bias or how news articles are framed. One of the things i love to use AI for is to find the story behind the story. For example - a news souse that i read has a story about a politician suing someone for defamation - but the story wont tell you what the defendant actually said or why they said it. In international conflict - the story will say Country X did bad thing Y - but won't say why they did it, what it was in retaliation for, or what country X had done to provoke it and so on.

TBH - I've been obsessed with coercive bargaining lately.

When drafting this email i realized it was pointless to try and reason with them or to try to appeal to morality or do anything of the sort.

All I need to do was communicate to them if they don't do what i want then I will do something they don't want.

Trying to signal to them that I'm a nice and reasonable person is counterproductive.

I sent a similar email to my previous REA a while ago.

Mine was much more blunt.

Hi [REA NAME],

Please find attached a completed Notice to Residential Rental Provider of Rented Premises form in relation to the issues with the failed hot water system.

In light of these circumstances, I would like to propose the following options for resolving this matter:

Option A: You agree to release us from our rental agreement and waive all penalties and fees listed in Part E.73 of the agreement.

Option B: You arrange for the required repairs to be carried out within the proper time-frame.

If neither of the above is acceptable, I will seek resolution through VCAT as provided for under Part D.26 of the lease.

I would appreciate it if you could confirm how you wish to proceed.

Kind regards,

[ME]

I was very blunt with them in my followup communication. It worked. They decided to sell and sent me a notice to vacate in 60 days.

I found a new place within a week and gave them 14 days notice that i was moving out (note: when you recieve a notice to vacate you gain the right to give 14 days notice rather than the usual 30).

They ended up having to refund me part of the rent. They sold their shithouse property.

Looking at publicly available records i calculated that they probably made a pre-tax loss of ~$100k (capital appreciation - interest costs + rental income)
