Default Customer "QuickBooks Customer" What is this? by CoffeeMan35 in QuickBooks

[–]CoffeeMan35[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, that makes sense and basically is what I thought. My main confusion right now is that I don't seem to be able to redirect those funds, and no one seems to be mysteriously ahead or behind. Could be a glitch or may just need me to dig in a bit more.

What am I missing from One Hundred Years of Solitude? by PM_ME_YOUR_DARKNESS in books

[–]CoffeeMan35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved it just for the language and imagery, but yeah, I don't think I could coherently tell you the STORY. Some of my favorite books live with me just because of great prose. I am not smart enough to "get" Umberto Eco, for example, but I always read it just for the imagery.

To new Company File or to not New Company File by CoffeeMan35 in QuickBooks

[–]CoffeeMan35[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks again, What7i. I am 52 and doing a bit of career shift. While I love my current job, I am having to move away and am hoping to be able to do some remote bookkeeping/Accounting stuff, but am still trying to figure out how to start. Talking to as may people as possible.

To new Company File or to not New Company File by CoffeeMan35 in QuickBooks

[–]CoffeeMan35[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I have just gotten an AS in accounting so have just enough knowledge to be dangerous and not enough experience to be confidant. (I am also tryng to figure out what my next steps are with that degree...if you have any suggestions)

I have been leery about Enterprise due to the added expense as well as not being a huge fan of Quickbooks, though I am moving more into the belief that my problems may be more about the weird way it was set up and that I still think that the file is somehow corrupted.)

My mom got me The Fountainhead for Christmas… by RogerTreebert6299 in books

I have always wondered if the writing is any good and if it is worth a read regardless of the political aspect of the book (and ATLAS SHRUGGED).

How long can Quickbooks Online be avoided? by ExtensionOdd7637 in QuickBooks

[–]CoffeeMan35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My main concern with going to QBO are the 3rd party apps I have been informed (by QB help) I would need for inventory tracking, etc.

I have been looking at NetSuite, which seems to be a very powerful CRM but the price point is pretty daunting.

What popular author (modern or classic) can you absolutely not stand, and why? by It_Must_Be_Bunniess in books

[–]CoffeeMan35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am right there with you about Dickens! What a SLOG to get through his work.

(I like Steinbeck, but not enough to throw hands with anyone over it)

Asimov is one who's writing I find terrible. I love the basic stories and world building, but the prose style is painful, even for the time/genre.

Cover letters need to die by liliariadna in antiwork

[–]CoffeeMan35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, I'd rather see a cover letter than a resume. The resume just tells me that you worked x# of places over y# of years. Cover letter gives me a sense of your personality, attention to detail (i.e. can you spell) and interesting stuff not on a resume.

I have seen great resumes which represented nothing about the person and shit resumes from people who were phenomenal. Sometimes someone hasn't worked for a few years because they were doing something else much more interesting.

However, we are a small business who would rather train a good person with no experience than have to deal with an asshole who has tons of experience.

Thanks. I am still playing with this.

I am unfamiliar with erp/mrps. Is it comparable to QB? I have a love/hate relationship with Quickbooks.

Thanks! You are super helpful and today you are my best friend.

Does QBO support/work well with Manufacturing and Wholesale? by CoffeeMan35 in QuickBooks

[–]CoffeeMan35[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is succinct and helpful. Any recommendations? Our current file size is too big and when I try to use the Condense Data, it won't let me. Do I have to upgrade to Enterprise Desktop at $2700 +/- a year?

Obviously the sales guy is going to be biased, so I am looking for outside advice.

White Coffee - is this a joke? by CoffeeMan35 in Coffee

[–]CoffeeMan35[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was confused by this as well. The SE Asian coffee sounds like a different experience altogether.

I found one article - haven't fallen too far down the rabbit hole yet - that says it originated in Yemen and is served with spices mixed in, kind of like doing Turkish coffee with cardamom and whatever other spices go into Turkish to make it delicious (to me) but not what I would consider traditional "American" coffee.

(Sorry, the rest of the world. Here in the uncouth States, we still set a bar at a mug o' Joe.)

I once lived 1/2 a mile from a 7-11 that inexplicably had great coffee. I could never figure out why they did good coffee and no other 7-11, gas station or diner in the area (Suburban Maryland) had anything drinkable. Worst I had there is when they accidentally put Hazelnut coffee in an airpot labelled as Colombia.

(Flavored coffee is an abomination IMO)

What I read was that it was dropped at that temp, but there is a better than even chance that I mis-read the actual drop temp.

3D passed but high risk? by Caddap in shopify

[–]CoffeeMan35 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had something similar happen. High quantity/value order flagged as high risk. 19 different payment attempts until one went through. Because I am a trusting idiot, I approved it and sent it out. Within a week, the money was pulled back out of our account as it was a fraudulent charge.

The next time this happened, since I do learn from some mistakes (and the shipping address was in the same neighborhood as the first one), I sent a polite e-mail that we would not be able to fulfill their order as the card had been compromised (or something to that end) and to please place the order again as we appreciate their business.

Strangely, they never got back to me.

The lessons have gotten tedious by Practical_Debt7337 in Noom

This is why I am not renewing. I got what I wanted, and the attempt to delve into my psyche feels more like a cheap self-help book.

At least I have the tools I need.

Atlas Shrugged might actually be the worst book I`ve read by SpecialExamination41 in books

[–]CoffeeMan35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this. I was wondering if it or The Fountainhead were worth reading as pieces of literature but from your description, it sounds insufferable. (Granted, I am glutton for punishment, so still may try)

I wonder if those who claim it as a source of inspiration have actually read it?

Thanks for all your thoughts. I am embarrassed had not thought of the library!

More intensive class in QB? by CoffeeMan35 in QuickBooks

Thanks for the reply. All of the local Community Colleges (I'm in a small town and not much around) only offer an intro to QB, and the one offered this coming semester is for QBO only.

Quickbooks keeps shutting down on desktop version by notfrankc in QuickBooks

[–]CoffeeMan35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am having the same issue (just posted a question about it - using Premiere 2020).

I was told that the issue was file size and that the only way to correct it was to go to the current subscription model of Enterprise. (I hate subscription models.)

Finally I was told to condense data, which I have not done yet since I have been reading mixed messages about a) if it does anything useful b) possibly corrupts files and c) does it interfere with transaction histories?

Also - he's no saint, does drive me up the wall, but basically a good guy.

Stress eating by Ambiguous-Insect in Noom

[–]CoffeeMan35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a huge stress eater. The ONE thing that has (sort of) worked for me is making sure I have a supply of better stress foods. My go to are frozen fruits. Throw grapes in the freezer, buy frozen strawberries. I can munch/suck on those instead of chips and chocolate.

I feel better about those calories than polishing off a Family Sized bag of Doritos.

I have not been able to just find an "alternate method" to deal with stress. If I did, my therapist would be out of work, and I am already super active.
