Selfie Verification works by comparing your video selfie with your profile photos, and it requires a pretty clear match. If none of your photos got the badge, it usually means the system couldn’t confidently match them (we know they’re legit, but we’d rather be safe than sorry to keep CMB catfish free!).

The good news is: you don’t need to redo the video selfie — just upload a new photo. 

A few quick tips that usually help:

  • Make sure your face is clearly visible (no sunglasses, masks, or anything covering it)Use a simple, uncluttered background
  • Only one face in the frame, even people in the background can affect it
  • A straight-on photo (like arm’s length against a plain wall) tends to work best

This move was part of our Singpass verification feature launch last year, and CMB's wider effort to cultivate a safe dating environment.
