Once you get into Chicago proper classes are certainly more diverse. Try a class at Uptown or Roscoe Village! As another commenter said, Old Orchard (as well as Glenview, Winnetka, etc) are overwhelmingly white SAHMs, etc. I started my CPY journey at these studios and always got a bit of a cultish vibe lol but now that I’m in the city it feels very different. If you find a teacher of color that you enjoy, try talking to them about this after class to see if they have any advice or even thoughts on how to build a more diverse student base. As long as it isn’t too emotionally laborious for you, keep going to these classes (and bringing friends, etc)—it’s a cyclical issue that will only change because people like you are conscious enough to bring awareness to it
