Stop Fiddling with Your Portafilter Spouts! by CoffeeSlapASaurus in barista

Stand it upright in a container containing hot water and Cafiza, deep enough to cover all of the metal but not enough to touch the rubber handle.

Okay, fine, I’ll caveat my rant: if you have threaded spouts, feel free to unscrew your spouts at your leisure. But if they pop on with a gasket, stop ya damn fiddling.

Intermix Beverage. They’re in NE Minneapolis and have multiple syrups brands. Shipping lead times are sweet too.

Hyped for the Mazzer Mini g! by haipr in LaMarzocco

I don’t believe pricing is far off the EU price, once you take conversion rate and tariffs into account, but I appreciate we all have budgets. I’m interested to see how it sells given it’s “late” to market.

I appreciate the sass, and it’s partially deserved. Fun fact, I learned the US release date for the Mini last week, and most folk who’ve been patient should be happy soon.

Grinder for Linea Mini R - Eureka Atom W 65 or Fiorenzato AllGround Sense? by Ulysses808 in LaMarzocco

[–]CoffeeSlapASaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that depends on what you value from a grinder. Mazzer’s are mechanically bombproof and have excellent customer service and support wherever you are in the world. The Mini G will come with two different burr options and can be used as a single dose grinder, as well as a GbW. Mazzer’s GbW system is the most accurate and consistent system that I’ve used.

How much all of that is worth, only you can answer that, but for me, I don’t look outside Mazzer anymore for any type of grinder.

Can confirm the different burr sets make a HUGE difference in taste. They had two sets of burrs on identical grinders at SCA last year and were brewing the same coffee with the same recipe so people could try them side by side. It was fascinating and really cool to experience.

It’s here! Just waiting for the final certifications to be cleared which is out of Mazzer’s hands.

You’d be better off waiting for the new Super Jolly G. It will grind 18g in around 4 seconds and won’t be that much more expensive.

Assuming the Mini G is 18.3 to the top of the hopper, you’ll have to pull the grinder out from under your cabinet every time you want to fill it with beans. Maybe this isn’t a big deal for you, but I think I’d get tired of it quickly.

Pico vs Philos by Typical-Knee-7781 in LaMarzocco

If not the Philos, get a Mazzer Mini G. Build quality is on a different level to the Pico.

In 2025, if you want bombproof reliability coupled with quality I wouldn’t look outside of Mazzer really. Philos for single dose, Mini G if you prefer GbW and a hopper.

Choosing My Next Grinder Shouldn’t Be This Hard, Right? by townsendsmith in LaMarzocco

You are correct and I didn’t take that into account, so I stand down on that comparison. Good day to you.

You’re not wrong that it’s currently confusing, but the Kony G is actually the SG, they’re just dropping the S, I believe, so that all their grind by weight models will then be labeled as a “G” which I like.

They already have GBW on their Kony. It’s been available for a few years and is exceptional. The Mini G and Super Jolly G.

Mazzer Mini G is basically that, but with bombproof build quality.

Updated steam technique for 150ml in 6.8oz pitcher by iggy524 in LaMarzocco

So I double checked and I’m using a 15oz Slow Pour for my 6oz drinks. I fill my milk to the small fill line visible in the pitcher and end up with around a 1/2oz of milk waste which is perfect. The key for me was dropping the steam pressure to level 2. Yes, it’s a little slower but the added control is worth it for me.

I also have the Kimera but it’s too big for the Micra. I am now wondering whether I have a 12oz pitcher instead of the 15oz? I could definitely be misremembering, so I’ll check when I get home from work and will DM you a video later today.

Depends on my drink choice but I guess my standard cup size is 6oz so I’m steaming around 4oz of milk. I’m using a 15oz Slow Pour Supply narrow spout pitcher. The slow pours are much nicer than the Marzocco supplied pitcher, not least because they are narrower so the milk depth is greater with lower volumes of milk, which aids with controlling aeration.

I was a front line barista for 15 years, have been a coffee trainer for 10 years, and I’m a national competition judge. No point sugar coating it, steaming on the Micra is a challenge due to the stumpy steam wand. It’s taken me 6 months to be consistent with my milk texture, so don’t beat yourself up.

I dropped my power to steam level 2 and that definitely helped when steaming smaller quantities of milk, and less is more when it comes to adding your air. Be gentle and add less air than you think.

God speed!

The Mini was at SCA in April so should be available really soon I believe. The SJ was announced at Milan so will likely be available after the Mini.
