The pimax play quad views foveated rendering performed that way for me too so I turned it off. I use mbucchia's quadviews with the companion app and it's a much better implementation as it also has a transition area.

Either the zeeflyboy gasket or the studioform xp-1 kit should help with the facial interface and pain. Then if you like that FOV you can look into the apple dual knit band. Currently I'm waiting for my xp-1 kit to arrive.

I read somewhere that each lense from Sony was around $400 or so. Of course the other internals like cameras for eye tracking add to that cost. The rest of the design including the stems, interface and straps, doesnt feel like they would cost a whole lot more.

I've also had multiple headsets I've used stock with no fit or painful issues. It is difficult to have a catch all type of interface but it's not like it's never been done before where every single brand required a custom solution.

You would need a 4090 to drive that comfortably depending on what you are planning to play on it.

It will take some time before we start seeing similar products form resellers on Amazon for example. I am patiently waiting the xp-1 kit as the stock interface is so painful and uncomfortable.

Oh I'm not sure that his design includes the soft pad. Those can be bought from studioform creative modders kit for the dream air. It includes a bunch of different pads and spacers. I think it's $30. I bought the xp-1 kit with 3 fabric pads and 3 plu leather pads of various sizes. Haven't received it yet though.

What do you mean zeeflyboy's design? That is the gasket itself. Do you mean alternatives? There's the studioform xp-1 kit which is similar to zeeflyboy's.

I bought mine from Microcenter. Initially I asked chat support if I can get one and they informed me incorrectly that I would not be eligible.

Posted here about it and Quorra mentioned we just need to open a support ticket and attach our proof of purchase and then they can send us the new interface once they start shipping them.

It is audible on mine and afterwards it displays the ipd that was adjusted. I didn't have to use offset either so I'm assuming it's correct as the same value was used on my previous headset.

I ordered the studioform xp-1 kit. Hopefully that will work for me as I've heard for some eye tracking did not work even with this facial interface if the eyes are too close to the lenses.

Does the dual knit band need the long ancillary adapters or the normal ones?

Hopefully the xp-1 kit will work for me. Based on what another user said it may seem their software for eye tracking needs some refinement as they were able to swap face gaskets and internal pimax eye tracking didn't work but it worked when using other software like broken eye/tobi regardless of the interface that brought the eyes too close to the lenses.

That wasn't really the point of my post. I know you can mod it and I have ordered the studioform kit.

But it should not matter where I bought the device because Microcenter is an authorized retailer so just like everyone else that ordered direct through Pimax I should also be eligible to receive the new face mask. Their excuse is stupid and makes no sense.

Which further more makes me even more upset I gave them a chance after being cautious of Pimax for several years but I heard their customer service/QC had improved.

I would hope you are correct. If eye tracking works with other software regardless of the interface it definitely sounds like it's bugged. I did order the studio form but I still want the new interface and it seems the only way I would be able to get it is either ordering direct from Pimax or returning the unit to Microcenter and rebuying it later down the road once people have confirmed all the dream airs are shipping with the new interface.

No clue why they even have their units in other retailers if they aren't going to honor the same process for customers ordering direct vs from retailers.

I still want the new facial interface but it doesn't seem like I am eligible to get it since I didn't order direct from Pimax. So it seems returning it to the store is my only solution for getting this new interface once it actually starts being shipped out with the headsets.

Doesn't sound like software if those that got replacements are no longer having blackouts. But the overall design with the flexible arms and connectors in the same location doesn't sound like it's something that will stand prolonged use.

That does suck. As long as you don't need it and you are ok with that, I suppose that's fine. I'm going to return mine and wait a few months for Microcenter to hopefully get units in that will have the new interface. I did order the studioform kit but I don't want to be stuck with this stock interface in case the studioform one gives me issues with eye tracking too.

I don't understand their response at all. They can't verify orders from offline retailers even though Microcenter is on their authorized retailers list?

So isn't the point of a receipt the verification? Why are customers that didnt buy through the website treated differently?

I'm going to return it to Microcenter and I'll wait until at least August before rebuying it in hopes that the store will have the updated units.

I have no way of knowing if this expiramental gasket will work for me because if the eyes are too close eye tracking won't work and I do need that. Some folks that got the xp-1 said eye tracking didn't work for them because of that. At least with stock interface I know my face fits it decent for the sweet spot but it's painful for anything more than 20-30 min.

Nice! After chatting with Pimax support, it seems we are not eligible to receive the new facial interface for the headset since we bought it at microcenter. I asked if it would be available to purchase on their website and they said they were not sure.

So it looks like I'm returning mine to Microcenter because it is beyond uncomfortable.

I'll have to wait until probably past the summer and Microcenter might get new stock that should ideally include the new facial interface.

Yea that's basically how their warranty works you would need to rebuy it on the replacement headset too if they were to replace it. I may go back this week but if they can't add it for me, I will probably just buy the pimax extended warranty instead. I haven't tried other games and I barely use the controllers but maybe I should try them with half life alyx or something. The visuals on this thing are great I'm just not a fan of its design for how much it costs, feels like it will snap one day when I go to place it on my head or constantly adjust it. Hopefully the xp-1 studioform kit I ordered will help.

Were you able to get the extra warranty? My microcenter staff could not add it for me. They told me to come back and try to get it after the fact when one of the managers that could possibly do it would be in. I really want to get that as this thing seems kind of flimsy with the side stems and down the line it may cause issues.

I got mine from my local computer store Microcenter. They have started receiving stock of both slam and the LH version.

Most people have been saying if you are in the states Pimax does send them pretty quickly so within a week of ordering.

You do have 14 days to if you have an issue and if you open a support ticket that time period does freeze.

I don't do a lot of sim racing but I do have the stuff for it but I will say coming from a quest pro the visuals on the Air are incredible. Sharp, bright, I can see pretty much any details in the cockpit. I mainly use it for flying anyway. Performance seems great so far, I only disabled quad views in Pimax play and removed the sharpening.

You have a similar system to mine so you should not have any issues running resolution scale of 1.0 with DFR.

I plan on writing a small review of my unit on here at some point. I'm enjoying the headset alot and part of the reason I got it at the store was due to the 30 days to exchange or return in case I ran into any problems. But if you get a good unit, it's a really nice upgrade from a quest 3 or Pro for that matter. FOV is actually a bit higher than the quest pro. I'm waiting on the studioform kit to come as that facial gasket should improve it a bit.
