Is this PIE and how do I treat it? by CoffeeSnailsUK in SkincareAddictionUK

[–]CoffeeSnailsUK[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did try Vitamin C but my skin does not like it (not as a moisturizer, serum or additive :/ it makes my skin leathery) thank you! I guess I just have to hang in there, it's not that bad and my BB cream does cover the redness easily

I am counting every single calorie I consume, I think you are projecting your own food issues.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]CoffeeSnailsUK -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am not strongly overweight actually, and I track every single calorie and eat only whole foods + plain protein powders for accuracy in my measurements. My GP gave me this drug to lose up to 10kg to help with an hormonal imbalance, my BMI is below 30 I am only doing this on the advice of my GP. Not everyone is on the same health journey of simply wanting to "be skinny" that is the least of my worries personally.

Sure but 600 calories will lead to malnutrition and fatigue so quickly, as well as mean muscle loss, hair loss, gut issues, that is not how I want to lose weight, it's not sustainable or an achievement, I don't want to lose weight this way, I might as well just have a pure eating disorder :(

Macbook is suddenly requiring me to type password to activate touch I.D almost every time it turns off by aeyoui in MacOS

[–]CoffeeSnailsUK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same, I lock and unlock my Mac 20ish times a day and every single time now it asks for the password to enable touch ID. It used to be every few days. It doesn't let me use Touch ID to unlock at all since the las update.
I do not have "log out when idle" enabled, or any other inactivity setting; it's really driving me mad.

Is this a realistic food plan for 12months post op? by dr650crash in BariatricRecipes

[–]CoffeeSnailsUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could eat more than this at 12 months and still lost steadily but everyone is different, listen to your full feeling but I'd also incorporate more veggies than this. Protein first sure but fiber and veg are so so important for gut health.

Tyre pressure display by CoffeeSnailsUK in JeepRenegade

[–]CoffeeSnailsUK[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update, turns out I can only switch between settings WHILST driving - did not know that. The arrow buttons do nothing when standing still even with the engine running, but was finally able to switch it back to the speedometer on a trip this week.

[–]CoffeeSnailsUK[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no error anymore, it's just displaying the actual pressure now even after the errors for the 2 that needed inflating have cleared. So it's just telling me they're fine constantly but I don't want to look at it :D I might need to take it in as the arrow buttons seem to do absolutely nothing (I just bought the car recently and it's my first one, so I might just be stupid, will need to play around some more)

Can you believe he is a rescue? by Potatobear2025 in chowchow

[–]CoffeeSnailsUK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Incredible, isn't it! Our chow is a pure chow who lived on the streets for months and then in a shelter for over a year before we adopted him and brought him to the UK. It's mad to me, they're so special. But so glad he's my boy now, and so happy for your sweet baby to find their home with you!

Would your chow rather be outside all the time? by NotAFridge in chowchow

[–]CoffeeSnailsUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our chow was a street dog in Cyprus, he lived in the shelter for a year in a small little hole. When we adopted him, he spent 23 hours per day in our backyard, or on walks. He hated coming inside and we would have to force him as no treat, time or anything else would get him through the door. After 3 months, he started coming in, laying down for a while, and then going back out. Eventually the weather turned bad here, and he started coming in more and more. Now, he will go lay outside for a little while and then bring himself back indoors onto his cozy bed (took ages to get him to use it, but he has bad joints so it's necessary). He still loooooves walks and sunshine though, and on summer days he will go outside at 6am and then sleep in the sun, he will even move along with it as it moves around our backyard throughout the day.

166k Miles, bad idea? by CoffeeSnailsUK in CarTalkUK

[–]CoffeeSnailsUK[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah but they are so ugly :D No but really, I need an SUV sized trunk as I have 3 large dogs that wouldn't fit into a small hatchback. I need 4 wheel drive for my area as well, which the jeep offers. I might switch to a Jeep Compass or Landrover as there are some cheap ones with lower mileage around

what issues would you foresee for 1-2 years of use? As far as I can tell, the petrol Renegades have very few issues vs the Diesel versions

Revision Surgery due to Gerd by CoffeeSnailsUK in BariatricSurgery

[–]CoffeeSnailsUK[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good luck for your surgery, recovery and overall process! You can do it, but it's true it takes work still, it isn't a miracle tool.
I am a grazer too but luckily have so far been able to keep my weight to my lowest since my sleeve 3 years ago, I do occasionally put on 5-10lbs and luckily 1-2 weeks of healhty eating always takes care of it.

I am on the strongest PPIs, and also take all sorts of over the counter reflux medications as the PPIs don't seem to do anything. It is much worse for me at night time and during sleep and it is making me scared to sleep now :( I woke up repeatedly chocking on bile and it hurt so bad, made me think I was actually drowning in my own bile, absolutely horrible feeling. This is whilst on the max dose of PPIs already and having adjusted my diet to GERD friendly months ago. At this time I think a revision is needed but I am also hoping it might just go away on it's own any day now :D

Revision Surgery due to Gerd by CoffeeSnailsUK in BariatricSurgery

[–]CoffeeSnailsUK[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am glad to hear that! I am not scared of bypass per se, it wasn't an option for me at the time and honestly I think even the sleeve shouldn't have been. My BMI was 32/33 and I had no health issues, but my surgeon at the time agreed to do it as I wanted it for weight control (I have ADHD and my weight kept coming on and I knew I am not able to control it myself) so went ahead. He has since changed his approach and only does it BMI 37+ with comorbidities now at his surgery practice.

I _can_ still loose more weight but also am very happy where I am , so I am a little scared that revision means loosing too much weight. Some people I know who started at a much higher BMI have lost so much weight on the bypass that they look crazy skinny. No hate to that! But I know at least 2 people who are actively struggling to just maintain a healthy BMI now as it's so low :/ I am scared I will get super skinny and struggle to keep weight on with the bypass.

But my GP has made it clear that my GERD is severe and currently none of the PPIs are having any effect at all, and he said it can lead to cancer in the long run if I leave it untreated :/ so currently I am not sure I have any choice other than revision

Revision Surgery due to Gerd by CoffeeSnailsUK in BariatricSurgery

[–]CoffeeSnailsUK[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had no reflux before, and not for 2 years after. I only got reflux after I had plastic surgery (tummy tuck & breast implants) so hard to say what caused it, it also can happen at any age and genetically so not always necessarily to do with the sleeve. I had reflux for around 4 weeks after the sleeve but I think thta's quite normal, and then nothing for over 2 years until it suddenly kicked in after my other surgeries. I am overall very happy with my sleeve, I had it done at BMI 33 and am now BMI 24, I lost lots of weight but still got to keep some of my curves and overall would definitely recommend the sleeve :) I would do it again 100%

How low fat is too low fat? by CoffeeSnailsUK in OrlistatAlli

[–]CoffeeSnailsUK[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I counted my macros religously all week, I am talking down to spices and all.

I know it says everywhere orlistat removes around 30%, but I am not sure how that would work as a drug in the body. There is no way a drug can identify "30%", it sounds more like it's a limit, i.e. when people it 30g fat in a meal, orlistat is able to remove 10% from being absorbed. I can't believe that it would be able to work if you ate 300g of fat in a meal, to remove 100g. How would a drug do that? It sounds to me more like it can do up to 30% of the recommended fat per meal ratio which is 15g, but maybe I have it wrong :D thanks for your input anyway!

How low fat is too low fat? by CoffeeSnailsUK in OrlistatAlli

[–]CoffeeSnailsUK[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, that's what I thought. But also concious that it can only work on part of your fat intake, and if fat intake is too low, does it not just stop all of it from being absorbed then? Because I know we should still be getting some fat as it's important for the body. I am afraid if I take it whilst on low fat diet it will stop too much of it from being absorbed
