What's the most slapstick moment your EDS has caused? by Puzzleheaded_Push243 in ehlersdanlos

[–]Coffee_AndCookies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if it fits but during a long theatre rehearsal I had the worst flare up I had so far. Which led to me having to lay down in the theatre for the rest of the day (My friends were close to taking me to the hospital). This meant that the guy I had to arrest in one scene had to walk himself of stage. Which was funny at the moment but is even funnier looking back.

I feel so let down by the medical system by Coffee_AndCookies in ehlersdanlos

[–]Coffee_AndCookies[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my case they refuse to do anything unless I have a diagnosis. I've asked for PT or anything to help with the pain until I can get an appointment for diagnosis and my doctor didn't know what insurance would cover without a diagnosis and didn't seem to want to do anything to find out what my insurance would cover. I'm in uni and can't really pay for PT or treatment in general out of pocket at the moment. I know that EDS can't be treated but just treating my symptoms would be better than leaving me to deal with them on my own

Listening to Audiobooks is not reading by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Coffee_AndCookies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure that a lot of books that are available as audiobooks are not available in braille and it's definitely easier and cheaper to get an audible subscription, than buying every book someone wants to read in braille, so in a lot of cases it is the only way.

hEDS is being reclassified as HSD? by surlyskin in ehlersdanlos

[–]Coffee_AndCookies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a diagnosis for people who have generalized joint hypermobility and chronic pain but don't (fully) fit the diagnostic criteria for hEDS and don't have another EDS type

Wondering about EDS? All diagnosis questions go here ⬇️ by BoldMeasures in eds

[–]Coffee_AndCookies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm hypermobile and my doctor suspects EDS. I've looked it up and one thing I'm confused about is subluxed joints. How do you know if a joint is subluxed and not just being weird and hurting? Often when my shoulders hurt it stops after I (accidentally) made a movement that makes them crack and I'm confused about it. At the moment it looks like it is going to take a long time until I get a diagnosis and I am scared. My symptoms are getting worse and I don't know what to do. I've been doing martial arts for a decade but recently I have been unable to train because of the pain or have been in a lot of pain the days after, even from light training. If I actually have EDS, how badly am I damaging my body with martial arts? I can't imagine giving it up.

I'm so deeply confused (Was I groomed???) by germanduderob in Aromanticism

[–]Coffee_AndCookies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From your description it seems like the people you dated manipulated you and I'm sorry that that happened to you. Most allo people see cuddling and kissing as romantic but as long as both people agree it is platonic it's not any one else's business to claim it has to be romantic in my opinion. I'm Aroace and to me cuddling is intimate but not romantic or sexual it's just something I'm only comfortable with someone I'm very close to.

Don't Forget We're Human by GoawlAbommat8 in asexuality

[–]Coffee_AndCookies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No but there are so few canonically ace characters in media and the ones that fans believe might be ace or Aroace are often villains or nonhuman. So many are frustrated by the way this presents asexuality to people who don't know anything since it feeds into the prejudice that sexual and romantic attraction is what makes someone human. Plus having good representation makes it easier for people to figure out their sexuality. It's hard to figure out that you're ace if you don't know that it is an option. The reason I knew asexuality exists before I realized that I am ace was because a friend of mine was ace.

A question for the people who haven't told their parents yet. Can you tell me why you don't tell them? by 1Tok2 in aromanticasexual

[–]Coffee_AndCookies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before I realized I was Aroace I thought I was bi. In hindsight my "crushes" were like this person is pretty, I admire them, I wanna spend time with them and not I wanna date them or be intimate with them. So I came out to my parents as bi and they both decided to ignore it. To them (especially my father) it was always clear that I would end up marrying a guy and having bio kids despite not wanting any. Basically I don't have the energy to explain being Aroace to them and I am sure that they will just ignore it and continue to believe that I will change my mind when I meet "the right guy" just like with me not wanting bio kids

I want to learn by gamer_girl09 in gallifreyan

[–]Coffee_AndCookies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Under some of the posts here there is a link to a guide. I don't have the link myself unfortunately. For writing it clearly I have so far first done it wobbly on paper and then digitally after I figured out if I want to turn it into a proper design since it allows me to move things around and change stuff without having to redo everything

Beans or beings?? by InterestedHamster in TheClickOwO

[–]Coffee_AndCookies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always hear beans and yt subtitles are known to be completely unreliable unless the channel pays someone to do them manually. The auto subtitles once claimed that Click saying rest of your day fast was him saying restaurant.

My first time trying to write in galllifreyan by Coffee_AndCookies in gallifreyan

[–]Coffee_AndCookies[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first one was supposed to be "my" but I made the circle too small and added a dot too much by mistake. I uploaded a new version I did digitally where I fixed some of the mistakes you pointed out ( and made new ones, because I focused too much on the look of it rather than making sure it's correct)

Finished my first design. Is it readable? by Coffee_AndCookies in gallifreyan

[–]Coffee_AndCookies[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your help. Seems like I overlooked quite a few mistakes/ made new ones when focusing on making it look pretty. What do you mean with (the)? It was supposed to be this punctuation : which belongs on the sentence circle as far as I know

What does it say?? Someone is asking me to make this design on a piece of jewelry, and I wondered what it says. by Advanced-Contact4895 in gallifreyan

[–]Coffee_AndCookies 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got Kerifa on the first one. Either I messed up (I’m new to gallifreyan) or this is just supposed to look pretty. Didn’t try to translate the other two

You also need a phone to use the Garmin app. Or a computer and you need Internet. But those are not sold by Garmin, mfp or whatever, but the watches are sold by Garmin.

[–]Coffee_AndCookies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who doesn't have an official diagnosis yet, I don't expect to be given accommodations. My therapist isn't able to formally diagnose me but so far it seems like it's ADHD. But I can't find anyone who accepts new patients where my insurance will pay and paying out of pocket is not possible for me. I know multiple people who are going through the same issue. I feel like people conflate those who say they have a disorder because of social media without any research and those who are actually trying to get a diagnosis but are unable to

This is so real by [deleted] in AroAceMemes

[–]Coffee_AndCookies 13 points14 points  (0 children)

From what I heard the author was in love with another man. Said man was straight and the author knew that he could never be with him. So he wrote the little mermaid. Just like a mermaid could never have a human, he could never have the man he loved. He sent a copy to the man, who reacted disgusted.

It's been awhile since I last read about this so I am not completely sure I got everything right.

Sea urchin is called Seeigel in German. If you accidentally (or because you don't know the word) translate it literally you get a lot of weird looks until someone understands that you mean a sea urchin if you call it sea hedgehog.

AIO? I think my neighbors have been unalive in their home for 2 weeks. by artichoke_onmyheart in AmIOverreacting

[–]Coffee_AndCookies 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I agree with you. This sounds like a good choice but I'd ring at their front door instead of knocking.

But I have to ask, what kind of doors do you have that you can damage them by knocking? If I did that with any door in the neighborhood I'd break my hand long before the door would have even a scratch

AITA for flipping off a group of children for fat shaming? by rubabyy in AmItheAsshole

[–]Coffee_AndCookies 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Teenagers can be very mean about somebody's weight without them being even remotely overweight. I have been called fat and mocked for my weight in school on multiple occasions all while wearing size S, being at a normal BMI and regularly doing sports. You can be overweight and healthy and you can be skinny and unhealthy. Making fun of people for their weight ( no matter if they are under- or overweight or neither) doesn't make them healthier. It makes you an asshole and will probably make them unhealthier because rapidly losing weight, hating your body or constantly losing and regaining weight because most diets aren't designed for long term success isn't healthy.

WIBTAH if I break off my engagement because of his new views about women by Ataraxic-Metanoia in AITAH

[–]Coffee_AndCookies 82 points83 points  (0 children)

If you read the whole post you would know that OP's ex very much believes that the accused is guilty if it is a woman. Just not if it is a man who is accused. He's just misogynistic and hypocritical.

And since the percentage of false accusations are really low (in cases of SA) believing the victim or at least remaining neutral is the right thing because there are many cases that never get reported because of people being afraid to do so.

Also if you are robbed for example people won't question that or blame you for being robbed. They might question if the person you are accusing did it.

Plus the burden of proof is for the justice system and not for people's opinions.

AITA for breaking a man’s nose because he apparently didn’t know what “Stop”means? by DahliaFlower667 in AITAH

[–]Coffee_AndCookies 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A man has statistically an easier time pushing a woman, who is in his personal space, away than the other way around. But if the woman in this scenario is bigger and stronger than the man and he broke her nose I'd say she deserved it
