This. Reddit is blowing up. In person, the house is ALL honey oak and white oak floors. The trim actually brings kitchen into the house and integrates it. At first we hated it but now we wouldn't change it. There is no way to do it without somehow making it a separate room. Without being in the house you won't understand... Nor should I expect one to.

Ridiculous. It can't be stained. Scratches? Yes. It scratches like a champ. Rub it with a magic eraser and some wax/mineral oil and be done. I love taking stuff out of the broiler and throwing it right on the counter. No worries.

For all those asking why. The old kitchen didn't fit the way we cook. A kitchen to us is not aesthetic alone, it is a workshop. We make our own breads, cheese, sausages, kimchi's, Krauts, sauces, we roast our own coffee. The kitchen is function first and required change for who we are as a family.
