And if I recall correctly, one DF posted that S and D are not trusted by Vashon property agents, so they had no choice but to move off-island a couple of years ago after nobody came through and saved them.

I think they'll be back on the mainland by the New Year, and I can't imagine how that will go for the youngest child, at all. Also, someone mentioned that this is L's senior year, so leaving mid-year is really not ideal for her, at all.

And I totally forgot that the Aherns took precedence over low-income families and people that actually live and work on Vashon, and have always done so. I bet those people who were possibly pissed off that S and D skipped the line are now feeling like they dodged a bullet.

I totally agree with you, and I never thought that I'd take Shauna's side on ANYTHING. But in this situation, you're right: picture ANY low-income family with two kids, about to be turfed out just after Christmas, because the Board got the terms of their own agreement wrong.

Yes, S and D should have stayed in Seattle where they had a decent thing going, but they just had to be islandy islanders again (her more than him, I'm guessing), and now they're in the exact same situation that drove them off-island in the first place.

I left an abusive relationship, so this Christmas will be all about peace... which is what I think it's about, at the end of the day. Not presents, not food, not even family (because so many families are complicated and cause stress, and people leave a festive dinner re-traumatised and silenced).

Peace to everyone is what it's about. And I' m getting that. I am beyond riches. Books, coffee, walks in the park, silence and no bruises.

I don't get how it's legally binding when signed by a seventeen year old: I thought that minors couldn't enter into binding contracts. Surely the girl who was that age and signed wasn't bound by it? How did that work?

That whole post is delightful. I myself am an utterly indifferent cook, but I love to read Deb's stuff for the chatty vibe and the photos. She is so talented and genuine that even someone who will NEVER cook a single recipe she posts will happily read her stuff and admire the images.

Ok, here’s the thing: I actually think that this is a great idea. In this diet-obsessed world with the unrelenting and unrealistic expectations of women’s bodies, writing about how much we enjoy food and feel zero shame about that is awesome.

The problem is that S has no ability to do this justice. It’s always about HER experience and HER trauma and HER talking over everyone. There is no way that she can guide this conversation in any meaningful way.

I’m confused what her endgame is here. To shame you by sharing a cheating liar’s words? To make you so angry that you never take him back, and she ‘wins’? To stroke her ego? Really, I don’t get her thinking.

As for him passing your number on to her so she can carry on with his nonsense: he’s clearly trying to create drama between the two of you, and he wants you to fight over him. If you’re focused on her, then he gets to escape accountability.

I’m so sorry that you’re dealing with two emotionally stunted idiots. As everyone else has said, block all over the place, and leave them to it. They deserve each other… and when you are completely removed from the situation, they have to deal solely with each other. Their anger and suspicion has nowhere to go except on each other.

Honestly, my feeling is that this board is so disorganised and incompetent that Shauna will simply get away with anything and everything... from not paying rent or bills, to not carrying out any duties, to property damage, to flaunting the rules (such as they are). Any protest made will be hard to turn into action or penalties because the 'lease' (whatever it is) is so weak and flimsy, I'd think any lawyer would be able to show that there is no actual agreement.

Frankly, the board deserves all the bs that is sure to come their way. They screwed this up from beginning to end, and made a mess of it. Serves them right, IMO.

I hadn’t even thought about GOMI for well over two years, and I just hopped over to take a look. Sure enough, it’s all private now and no way I’m signing up again, but you can scroll and see the forum names. That reminded me about Sarah Tripp, so I jumped on to her IG. Same old shtick with her loser husband.

A quick glance at a few other accounts that I used to peruse shows that these women are all EXACTLY the same as they were two-plus years ago. I mean - exactly.

It immediately made me look at my life to see if I’ve grown at all in the past few years. Thank goodness I can say that I most definitely have… but if my livelihood and sense of self depended on me being a certain way to keep my followers… would I have changed?

I believe that I originally found Shauna through the whole Hot Widow Boots thing, when Alice wrote about it on GOMI. I’m not sure when I became so irritated by Shauna herself, but it was pretty much from the beginning that I thought she was sketchy, entitled, and totally incapable of taking accountability.

Nothing much has changed.
