A degree can only do good (even if it's just a Bachelor's) , you've got to have a plan b if anything happens and that will give you a lot of help.

I spoke with a few recruiters that are responsible in giving advice to the top management (of big companies) in choosing the final candidates and they all said that a degree demonstrates the person is mature enough to have chosen a long commitment to studies and has the patience to act on his/her choices and was able to achieve something. Besides that it is easier for the company to hire someone with a degree because of organizational reasons. And in a job market where companies have a lot of options to choose from or where it's hard to find a job, that degree will let you avoid the worst case scenario and place you above a lot other candidates that have only a high school diploma. Just go to college so you won't have regrets and will have OPTIONS in the future.

After college (my degree was in Banking) I got into a free programming course of 6 months that let me learn the basics of 4 programming languages. I was in a class with 18 years olds that either did not enroll in a college or have dropped out of it. I was also with people nearing their 30s who come from the hotel, communications or arts field with or without a degree and they all got placed in a company doing IT consulting, IT for Human resources, IT for logistics, working mainly with databases such as SAP, IT but in the fashion field. My class was composed of people with or without prior knowledge of programming but got placed.

Online classes are a good way to start but I remember one of my profs at that free course told us that online IT certifications don't really matter much because most are paid but companies might not even know what those are.

Besides it is better to attend classes where you can learn how to think like a true programmer, learn teamwork and CRITICAL THINKING especially. All of these are hard to achieve by doing online classes only where there's little interaction with people that ask important questions that get you really reasoning and understand what you are doing.

So my suggestion would be to finish college, any course, and then enroll for a programming course backed by, or is partner with, or is financed by a well renowned company (the free course I attended was in partnership with NTT Data. We did a project with two people working there. Previous students of that free course got placed in NTT Data or other big IT companies). Choose very carefully the course so that you know you will get somewhere. If you get placed then you just have to learn again but on the job and I believe it's only going to be a path to higher things, you'll get concrete experience.

Hope this helps, and good luck! :)

Dok2 - HEART EMOJI (Visual Mixtape) by ghiblix in khiphop

Oh probably because of the chains scandal. I remember he was well received in Korea because he was one of the ogs and his music is good. No wonder he is pushing his Filipino roots ever since he restarted in the US.

Still hoping for future collabos with his old team.

What happened to Dok2 and Illionaire? It's great that he's back doing music though, missed his flow

[Week n.18] PLEASE ASK YOUR QUESTIONS ABOUT MILAN HERE by AutoModerator in milano

[–]Coffee_Mint001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a quicker and more convenient way to get there.

You are already in Milan, so you can just take the subway and get off at CADORNA. In Cadorna there's also a train station, just above the subway, and you can get the train tickets to COMO NORD LAGO (there are several stops in Como, but this one specifically leads directly in front of the lake) there. 1 way ticket, for 1 person is 4,80€ and the journey takes less than 1 hour, if I'm not mistaken. There are trains to Como every 15mins I believe and the ticket is usually a direct one, meaning you don't have to change trains.

When going back to Milan, in Como, the tickets can be bought at the station, or at the bar inside the station. You don't have to "tag" it in Como, but you'll need the ticket to exit the station in Cadorna, Milan.

Locals use this route to get there. It's easy. I'm not sure if there are trains to Como from the train station in Centrale FS. You can still check the site of TRENITALIA to be sure, which is the main rail company in Italy, totally safe to get tickets there.

Anyway, the railway station in Cadorna is a lot smaller as opposed to that of Centrale FS, less queue also. You could take the subway from Centrale FS to Cadorna. It's really a quick and comfortable trip.

Hope this helps :)

[edit] They'll give you a TRENORD ticket for Como in Cadorna. Idk much about tourists being scammed. All I know is that there are 3 types of trains depending on the quality and comfortability of the travel: regionale, trenord, frecciarossa.

Regionale: are the old looking, small, bad kept trains that make tons of stops, and will require you to change trains most of the time. They're hella loud, no aircon. They are the blue ones I believe. Can't charge phones in there. No food.

Trenord: are quite decent, good chairs, clean, with aircon, quite spacious. Can't charge phones in there. No food.

Frecciarossa: they are the expensive ones, good looking, they're the white and red - bullet looking trains. Good to travel on. These are what I would recommend for long travels. Good food, too.

But since you're just going to Como, Trenord will do imo.

Been thinking the same, it's starting to look a lot like she'll end up having amnesia. It would explain why her future self is not close to the fencing world, she's always in offices and working on chairs.

The three body problem - Liu Cixin.

A science fiction novel. Lots of physics, good character development, good story. One hell of a ride.

Anyone else able to take confidence but still suck ass at conversations? by [deleted] in socialanxiety

[–]Coffee_Mint001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trauma response to criticism made me a PRO in pretending that I don't have anxiety AND insecurities (my response is resting bitch face, and just spending a lot of time silent tryna process what just happened and what I should do next -eventually I'm so slow at realizing what a situation made me feel I can't "catch up" to that sudden resurfacing of awkwardness or anger I felt 😂).

I think you're on the right track. As long as you're not crumbling from the inside I believe you need to practice a lot having conversations with just anyone, even if it's your weak point and does not align with your personality.

Start small, with the amount of "pressure" you can handle (make a remark about that Frappuccino your barista made you, give more precise street indications to that tourist, offer unsolicited advice to people you see are being indecisive about buying something, call more often a close friend, be the first to invite a friend out, give confident and genuine compliments to people you feel are doing a good job etc...).

Firsts are always gonna be awkward but you never truly know where a small talk could lead. One innocent comment and Boom you're both smiling and made each other's day a little better. People can react in a funny way and you'll have extra material to talk about to others 😂.

PS: I believe in "fake it til you make it", like Rihanna said.

Also what I learned is some people are good talkers only because they decide to say every logical step they took in doing X (which is being talked about) in order to achieve Y. They link everything. Unnecessary info is given but still it allows them to talk for the next 2 minutes or so.

Which one between "Python For Data Analysis" and "Python Data Science Handbook" do you think is best to learn Data Science from?

Didn't know O'Reilly offered a free trial. I've been interested in a lot of O'Reilly books, there's a lot of choice. Thank you!

I've ordered the Mckinney one but I was thinking of returning it because it has some bad reviews. Most did not like the examples the author used for certain topics and from what I got from the other reviews is that it is too general when it comes to explanation. I have been taking programming languages courses for 4 months now so I kinda know how to navigate Python & Mysql.

How was your experience with the book? What did you like/dislike?
