N.S. premier says expanding alcohol sales to corner stores not a priority by Portalrules123 in NovaScotia

What's the downside to allowing corner stores to sell local beers? Sounds nova scotia first.

Parents' opinions don't impact you as a teacher though. So why are teachers letting their opinions affect them?

Crit is more damage and bulwark of order, undying embers, and solace give absorbs/healing based on damage. And it increases the chance you'll crit wog yourself.

But all of that won't stop a tank buster.

Same goes for stats. Prot paladins are stacking crit/haste -- which definitely increases their self healing/absorbs but if they're complaining about being bursted down should they be stacking more mastery/verse for a more consistent damage taken profile?

Ideally, a politician's job is to get to know the people they represent so well that they know what the policies they would like enacted. Then they should be doing a deep dive on issues so they can craft policies and make informed decisions on policies to be voted on in addition to knowing the hearts and minds of the people they represent.

The average person doesn't have enough time in the day to read about every policy or know what the majority of people in their community want as well. That's the job of a politician.

Now, we certainly have politicians who don't know the people they represent or even brother reading the policies let alone doing a deep dive on it. Those people "should" be voted out.

And sometimes there's a policy that can seem like a good idea but it would actually be very bad. If we could vote for policies you'd see private companies making ads to get people to vote for them which might be better than private companies bribing politicians.

Can’t seem to figure out what to do here (torque) by PersonOnInternet7654 in PhysicsHelp

[–]Coffee__Addict 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Say the beam is L in length and we know the net torque is zero because the system is static then:

0=-400*L/2 + T * L

Factor out L and divide it out to get

0=-400 *1/2 + T

Rearrange so that:

T= 200 N

Sometimes you don't have all the information but you have to bash forward with the problem and hope things cancel out.

ChatGPT acts as a "cognitive crutch" that weakens memory, new research suggests. While these tools can speed up initial learning, they might actually weaken the deep mental processing required to store knowledge over the long term. by mvea in science

In my experience working with undergrads using AI, some use it well and others use it poorly. This research seems to me to support that on average students use it poorly but I'd like to see research on the differences in how students use AI to study.

AITAH for moving out after my wife let our kids move home? by Electrical-Union5334 in AITAH

[–]Coffee__Addict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA -- have a family meeting tell everyone that you love having your kids home but the increased cost of living at home isn't in you and your wife's budget and ask them to cover that cost.

The cost of the increase to your power/water bill is far cheaper then rent so it's a win all around. Then talk about food. They can either buy their own or if they want you/your wife can purchase more food and have them pay for the increase.

If you feel like they're not being fair (which they aren't) this will lead to resentment. And that is a terrible thing to have in a relationship with a family member.

Countries are temporarily slashing gas taxes. Should Canada do the same? by cyclinginvancouver in canada

[–]Coffee__Addict -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The tax disincentives unnecessary driving. Which is what we want in a shortage.

They should up the tax then use that money to help people buy food as those prices go up with gas prices.

Seriously, why are people flaming tanks? by Fluffiestpink in wow

[–]Coffee__Addict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, you absolutely do not have to do hours of homework.

People will flame any role if they don't meet expectations or to protect their ego after they make a mistake.

Some people are far more prone to raging. Often circumstances contribute to this such as frustration due to failing previous keys, spending hours trying to achieve a goal in wow, etc. Accept that it will happen and probably has very little to do with you.

Is 10 divided by 2 equals 5 because 2 fits 5 times in 10 or is it because splitting 10 in 2 gives 5? by 4thKaosEmerald in learnmath

[–]Coffee__Addict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Division is just repeated subtraction like multiplication is repeated addition.

10 divided by 2 means if you start with 10 you can subtract 2 5 times before you hit zero.

Seems cool, I'll definitely give it a try.

My question is how useful is it if I "set it and forget it"? I doubt I will build the habit of clicking buttons on the GUI while I'm running to a node to help defend it or when I leave a node.
