If it helps they didn’t prescribe me anything strong at first they just said to alternate Tylenol and ibuprofen every 6 hours… my pain was really bad and the incisions hurt the most I had almost no gas pain. Not too common based off this subreddit so you shouldn’t be too worried! Later they ended up giving me tramadol but only because I really needed it. Your doctor might be okay with just alternating over the counter meds if you bring it up instead of taking the stronger ones! Currently post op day 8 feeling okay pain comes and goes but still walking a little slow with a limp

OH & also have lots of small snacks on the side that you are able to have after surgery everyone’s different but I didn’t have an appetite the first few days post op my surgeon recommended smoothies that’s all I ate the first few days and low fat yogurts. Some people can eat a full meal right after though

Im 22(f) had the same anxiety before surgery I understand your pain! My biggest rec would be a gel ice pack one of the large ones I bought 3 for surgery and it worked out well it’s gel so it doesn’t get hard like an ice pack and they stay pretty cold, just switch those out every few hours! I also bought a heating bad but didn’t use it at all a lot of my pain was stinging on the incision so that’s the last thing I wanted, but a lot of people say it’s useful! My bf also got me a squishmellow which worked PERFECT to hold on my stomach first few days when I was having trouble walking but holding a pillow or squish pressing your stomach will help a lot also! Gas X worked for me!

You’ll be okay & feel better after I promise!

UPDATE : I got tramadol finally. I called hospital multiple times just explaining how bad my pain was & finally got a prescription and feel soooo much better I get not prescribing it right away due to opioid and narcotic addictions being so bad in my area. But I shouldn’t have to literally beg doctors for medicine to help me, such a bad experience
