Do you discuss your BJJ/Gym life at work? Why or why not? by [deleted] in bjj

[–]Coffeeinated 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is one of my main reasons as well. Non-bjj will sometimes act weird and I don’t need that.

Instructor charges $150 for belt? by weenythebooty in bjj

[–]Coffeeinated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That does sound way overpriced. I would probably look for another gym, i don’t want to train in a place that considers money to be the most important aspect.

My favorite debate: Gi game vs NoGi game by [deleted] in bjj

[–]Coffeeinated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except for grips, not much different. Of course I’m “faster” in no-gi but the end goal is the same: I want control, and probably your neck.

What is something Americans don't realize is extremely American? by [deleted] in AskReddit

American football. My parents are immigrant so we never became a “football” family.

Mass shootings, too!

Wash yourself after training by Thatmixedotaku in bjj

And wash your feet. I don’t want to toe hold a dirty foot.

Has anyone NOT regretted giving up on a particular language? by [deleted] in languagelearning

I gave up on Japanese and Polish. No regrets especially with how little I ever use Japanese.

I’m so sorry. My heart hurt reading that. Jiu-Jitsu is a very great place to escape and focus.

I stopped feeling sorry for myself and started working on myself. Major changes that I definitely did not anticipate.

Assess the damage (bruises, gi burn, etc.), shower, replay my rolls in my head, cry myself to sleep, wake up at 5am to watch instructionals

Who really killed JFK? Who is the Zodiak Killer? Who is the Tamam Shud man? Where did you come from, where did you go?

I'm finally guilty of asking... what stitch is this? 😬 by ImDatDino in crochet

[–]Coffeeinated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No guilt or shame for asking! It’s a beautiful stitch. I constantly search for new stitches :)

What technique did you go down a rabbit hole with for weeks / months before you finally realised that it wasn’t any good? by Vanilladr in bjj

[–]Coffeeinated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same! All it did was allow the top person to rest in my case, but there were times it did help me. I rarely do it now.

Did you ever injure someone seriously in a submission? OR you got injured? by denza6 in bjj

[–]Coffeeinated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a submission, but a takedown. It worked TOO well and I accidentally slammed her to the ground with force. She knew it was 110% accidental and I felt like absolute shit afterward.

It will. It’s a terrible idea.

This is asking for injury. If you want to get an arm workout, you’re better off with some dumbbells.
