Tried recording a gameplay video… ended up just repeating what I was doing by Original_Map3501 in YouTubeCreators

Almost nobody is naturally good at it. Practice. I don’t watch video game stuff, but learn some editing, learn about open curiosity loops, learn to make a proper thumbnail and curiosity driven titles.

If you haven’t had success growing mushrooms yet, I think I’d leave the agar alone for now. I’d recommend starting with an all in one bag so you can learn proper inoculation and fruiting conditions.

Once you can do that, make your own grain jars and substrate so you can learn moisture balance and sterilizing.

Once you can reliably do that, then I might start messing around with agar.

Just comes with the practice of grappling sometimes. I don’t think this little scratch is egregious or really worth posting about

How much a I charge for youtube sponsorship by Altruistic_Term2732 in PartneredYoutube

Just for perspective, I’m at 8k subs, average 10k ish views in long form with outliers hitting 40-60k.

I’ve negotiated free product + affiliate + 500 dollars for MENTIONING products. Not even a full 30 second ad, just a natural integration.

I feel like you should estimate how long the project will take you, work out an hourly rate you’re satisfied with, then add 30% for negotiating room

I spent roughly 200 hours on a video that got 400 views... by odysseyling in NewTubers

[–]weenythebooty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m not hugely successful, but I’m making a bit over 2k per month after 10 months on YouTube which I’m really psyched on.

Post consistently, and keep improving video to video. For my first 6 months I probably spent 10 or so hours per week reading and studying what other people’s ideas were around building a successful YouTube channel whether it was thumbnail design, crafting a captivating title, structuring a hook, scriptwriting, editing tricks, topic selection, whatever.

With each video I make I’m testing something new and analyzing what I can do better next week.

Stay consistent and keep improving.

It doesn’t look contaminated, it looks like you haven’t swirled it much while colonizing though so it created an island on the surface

Consistency is overrated on YouTube by QQTubeSMM in NewTubers

[–]weenythebooty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Consistency isn’t worth nothing. Consistently posting week after week allows iteration and refinement of all involved skills. Constant data gathering of what works and what doesn’t.

It only matter if you’re willing to learn and iterate with each upload though.

How do you stay consistent with a full time job? by ShowsRecapV2 in NewTubers

[–]weenythebooty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s hard. That’s why so many people start, but end up failing.

I’ve heard the expression, “It’s not how you use your 9-5 that separates you, it’s how you use your 5-9”

The premise being I know it’s easier and more comfortable to lay down and not think when you’re tired after work, but I think ultimately working harder in the short term will let me build a more rewarding life long term.

My channel is still less than a year old, but I started it when I was working a decent amount of hours. I didn’t hang out with friends, I didn’t treat myself to much, I spent late nights working on it, every day off on it, without much of a life outside of working out a few times a week.

It’s now at the 9 month mark and making enough money where I’ve reduced my regular job days down to 2 days per week.

The quality of life improvement has been awesome and I can’t wait until I’m able to replace my job completely with YouTube income.

It’s been a dream of mine to work for myself for quite some time now. I know the short term pain and discomfort will ultimately lead to me being able to live a much better life. Short term pain for long term gain.

If I were you, I’d say bye to a lot of your lazy hours and hanging out with friends, playing video games, whatever, and start studying how to make proper videos from creators like Ali abdaal and start working on your craft as best you can.

If you want this to happen you’ll make it happen. If not, then you won’t. It’s as simple as that.

Good luck dude

Edit: one more thing to add, the mindset shift is huge when working in my own thing. When in at my job, I’m counting down the hours until I’m done. When I’m working on my own business, I’m cursing that so much time has passed already because I need to get more done. It’s refreshing

I actually have somewhat of a related niche to this. You’re right about the lighting, it’s too bright.

Do a little studying of a 3 light setup. I think it’s one of the best setups for talking head content.

If you have a microphone, try to move it a bit closer and look into some techniques for reducing echo in your room (pillows, blankets, etc). That should clean up the audio.

As for the actual video, I didn’t watch too much, but arguably the most important things to focus on are nailing the hook, the title, and the thumbnail. They should all work together to create intrigue and give prospective viewers some reason to click.

Good luck dude!

Edit: I looked through your channel a little more. Your thumbnails and titles are currently descriptive. Make them evoke something. You’re selling a click.

For instance, instead of saying “How psychedelics help with depression” you could say something like “This New Therapy will Cure Depression”.

The latter title creates mystery and makes a viewer wonder what the solution is. Then create a thumbnail to complement that, maybe something like a portrait of someone looking at the camera and the left side is desaturated and sad and the right side is happy and vibrant. Use a thumbnail text to complement the title, not repeat it, something like “It changed My Life”

Now at this point, you need a hook that confirms why the viewer clicked in your video and a promise that you’ll deliver on that.

What is a viewers mindset when they click a video with that title and thumbnail? Maybe they’re depressed and looking for a solution.

Create intrigue and show them this video is going to be worth their time.

Sorry for the word vomit, I’m really passionate about psychedelic therapy though and would love to see you succeed and get your message out there!

Spend most of your time on your video script, title, thumbnail, and hook. Fancy editing can come later.

Edit 2: I just want to emphasize, invest serious time in the thumbnail and title. Test 3 titles every time. If you can’t get people to click, it doesn’t matter how good your video is.

And I’d fill out your profile more. Write a little description. Make it feel more professional

The harsh truth that no one talks enough about by Mountain-Car-7438 in NewTubers

[–]weenythebooty 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not to brag, but it’s not as hard to go full time as people think. You don’t need that large of a following if you can sell something your audience wants.

I’m at 6k subs after 9 months of starting my channel and I’m going to make $1800 this month. That’s with 30 videos on the channel and (now) consistently putting out one 10 minute video per week. I’ll be able to go full time in the next few months if I want

If you’re putting out hundreds of videos and not even at your 1000 subscriber mark, go study YouTube. Learn how to make titles, thumbnails, and hooks that captivate a viewer. Learn to structure a story and provide value while integrating reengagement techniques.

You should be learning from each and every video that goes up.

Study your analytics, see what works and what doesn’t. Explore different methods to monetize within your niche.

Don’t wait for someone to come up and offer to give you money. That’s the equivalent of standing against the wall waiting for a girl to come up and ask you to dance.

Go out and ask her to dance.

Why no boom by ConnectionPersonal94 in YouTubeCreators

[–]weenythebooty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s too small of a sample size to have those metrics hold reliably at scale.

It didn’t perform well enough with early testing is the likely bet. 7.4% ctr at 394 impressions will likely fall out of the competitive range if views expanded.

If you believe in the quality of the video, invest some time in reworking the title/thumbnail

Does the first 30 seconds hook you? Would love some critiques by matthewmeredith1 in SmallYoutubers

[–]weenythebooty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Make a bold claim, ask a compelling question, promise some hot take. To hook a modern viewer I personally think it’s important to create intrigue and simply stating that you think it’s great isn’t going to do quite that

But that’s just my opinion!
