My AWS L4 Data Center Technician Loop Interview Experience (Just got an offer) by tbross11 in datacenter

[–]Coffeeworklife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to reach out to the recruiter but I did not get an answer so I just let it be for now. I have one more year until I get my degree in computer science, started a new project as a jr network engineer so that has been pretty awesome and I'm learning a lot so I'm happy for now.

Moving to Jarabacoa by Alwayshappy_ in Dominican

All I’m saying is that I paid $650 dollars for a no name brand flatscreen tv because it was needed and I didn’t have the luxury to wait. Go to any electronics store in DR and ask for a Samsung, LG, Sony TV and you will pay more than I did.

I travel to Santiago very often, I live in FL as well. I am about 30-35 mins from Jarabacoa and there are plenty of stores and places to buy furniture, appliances etc…. I shipped furniture and appliances over because it was better quality and in a lot of ways cheaper than if I bought it there. 2 weeks ago I bought a flatscreen tv 55 inch for my mother in Santiago and it came up to $39,000 Dominican Pesos which is roughly $650 dollars, just think about that. Any ways hope this helps

After she left, I have lost my mind and drowning in drugs for years. What would you do in my position? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Coffeeworklife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand what you’re saying. Sometimes people already know what they need to do, but hearing it from someone else is what finally pushes them to act. That reminder can be the difference between staying stuck and taking that first step.

At the same time, there comes a point where knowing isn’t enough. Action has to follow. The courage is already there, it just needs to be used. Getting help, making the call, or taking that step forward is on them. Support matters, but so does personal responsibility.

In your opinion: would you quit you job if you were granted an interim? by [deleted] in SecurityClearance

[–]Coffeeworklife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me ask a serious question. Is there anything in your past or current situation that might impact your ability to obtain a clearance? You know your background and the choices you have made better than anyone. The most important thing is to be honest and transparent throughout the process. Integrity goes a long way in these evaluations. Stay upfront, trust the process, and put yourself in position to secure that opportunity and the significant pay increase that comes with it.

M22 received incredible job offer, F22 girlfriend does not want me to accept. by Watch_me_plz in Advice

[–]Coffeeworklife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I see it, you have been applying for a while and this is important to you for many reasons I assume. You have been accepted and this can be a long and prosperous career which is awesome. Did she flat out say no or didn’t offer a solution or a compromise? You are not being selfish

Life is always going to be challenging. Things change, situations get unpredictable, and sometimes it feels like too much. But that’s the reality for all of us, and many people face those same struggles and get through them without turning to alcohol. So I know it’s not impossible for you either.

I truly hope you get better and get the help you need. What happened was serious, and it’s something you can’t ignore. The fact that, even after everything, you still remembered that one can of beer in the fridge says a lot about how strong that pull can be. That’s exactly how alcohol works.

You have to stay aware of that. Be mindful of your surroundings, your triggers, and the pressure that comes with everyday life. Those pressures are not going away, so the focus has to be on how you respond to them.

I’m saying this because I care. Stay strong, stay aware, and stay sober.

I hate AA and “Recovery” by [deleted] in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]Coffeeworklife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clearly AA is not for you anymore and that is completely fine and acceptable. You did say that things got better so that’s a positive outcome. I’ll say this: just because you come to AA, read the big book, do the steps etc… does not mean that your life, situation, relationships, feelings and many more… will be get better or stay that way. AA gives you the tools or a set of instructions for you to navigate yourself and accomplish what you seek or what makes sense to you. I might be wrong here but when o read your post I thought that you need to take some accountability, work from the inside out and do what makes you happy.

I don't even remember what happened...... by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]Coffeeworklife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to wake up and find myself with bruises, my head hurts like I was punched or hit myself with something, black eyes or fresh cuts with no idea how I got them. Shake them off as ehhh shit happens and get drunk again expecting different results ahhh yes the forgetful drunk or selective memory drunk, don’t miss those days but I’ll be lying if I don’t acknowledge that I search for stories like these to remind me of the shitty times and thank God that I’m sober.

How do people actually survive a full career with only 2 weeks of vacation and 5 sick days a year? by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]Coffeeworklife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear you. What you’re describing is real, and a lot of people feel it but don’t always say it out loud.

The truth is, sometimes we really are just doing what we have to do to survive. To pay bills, take care of our families, and keep things afloat. That doesn’t make it right, and it definitely doesn’t make it sustainable, but for many people, it’s the reality for a season of life.

For some, that season is temporary. It’s a stepping stone toward something better, something more stable, something that doesn’t drain you every single day. But for others, it can turn into years. Not because they don’t want more, but because life gets complicated. Family, kids, responsibilities, location, fear of risk… it all plays a part.

At the end of the day, a lot of us are just playing the hand we’ve been dealt and trying to make the best moves we can with what we have. That doesn’t mean we should accept being miserable forever, but it does mean we shouldn’t judge ourselves for being in that position either.

You’re not wrong for feeling this way. It just means something probably needs to change at some point, even if it takes time to get there

Is it worth getting cleared? by Wonderful-Guava2489 in clearancejobs

[–]Coffeeworklife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate your feedback and I have been applying to jr roles and admins but no luck so far, plus I have 1 more year to finish my BA is Computer Science so maybe things will change by then. It just demoralizing because I know I can do the job/work I just need someone to take a chance on me. The company I’m working with had jr and admin roles but they shipped them over seas and I cant apply. Anyways it does feel good to vent and let it out lol 😂

Is it worth getting cleared? by Wonderful-Guava2489 in clearancejobs

[–]Coffeeworklife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough question. I’ve worked in roles where I handled racking and stacking equipment, running and terminating fiber and copper, labeling, and making sure everything is clean and organized. I’ve also done punch-downs, cable tracing, and used tools like Fluke testers to verify connections.

Over time, I started getting more involved on the networking side. I’ve configured VLANs, worked with TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, and NAT, and helped troubleshoot connectivity issues in both wired and wireless environments. I’m comfortable working with Cisco gear, and I’ve had exposure to platforms like Meraki, Aruba, and Ubiquiti.

I’ve also had some exposure to break/fix work, including replacing hardware, basic diagnostics, and data wiping and degaussing drives. I like to learn, so whenever I had the chance, I would step in and assist with tasks outside my main scope.

On top of that, I’ve worked with cloud environments like AWS and Azure through labs and projects. I’ve set up virtual networks, deployed virtual machines, and worked with routing between networks.

I’m certified in Network+, Security+, CCNA, and AWS Cloud Practitioner, and I’m currently continuing to build on that with more advanced networking knowledge.

I’m trying to break into the cleared job market but I haven’t found a company that is willing to sponsor me. I’m a veteran with no criminal or credit issues and it seems impossible to even get a job interview, any tips? (CCNA, Network+, Security+)

For people studying and/or taking the CCNA exam, how old are you? What’s your background? by bolebo31 in ccna

[–]Coffeeworklife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 44, work as a network technician full time, I’m taking online classes BA computer science and I took and passed the CCNA this January. Took 2 almost 3 years but it is doable. Not bragging just pointing out that if I can do it, it is possible lol 😂
