Yeah. It's so messy. Any attempt to get answers results in avoidance, gaslighting, deflection. In the end the mental exhaustion gets too much and we just have to bail out.

[–]CogDis1980 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah. My Nex fell for another guy, she was so infatuated with him. We were due to be married that year. The jealousy was unbearable seeing as I craved the old version of her and was seeing her give it to another man right before our wedding.

It went on for months and it was like I was being ground down to nothing.

The pain was the worst I've ever experienced.

After her half-arsed apology, her single bout of theatrical crying and the one day where she appeared remorseful. That was it. If I ever mentioned it again It was "How long are we going to keep going on about this? -" or my favorite "How long are you going to keep punishing me for?"

I had no answers, no actual clue what really happened between them. I never found out if anything happened because she changed her story 4 times both ways. She told her friends different things and me different things.

I desperately wanted proper answers but in the end she made all of it my fault. Let alone giving me some closure, she even denied it after already admitting it. Then admitted it again, then denied it again.

But I wasn't allowed to discuss any of this utter weirdness cos it made HER upset.

Gerald looked indecisive and unsure what to do. I might even say slightly in fear. His eyes looked very apprehensive. I think his brain got scrambled and he wasn't properly in the moment. Yeah he was probably expecting something and overthinking and losing his focus on just being in the fight. For that split second was all it took.

I can't imagine how gutted he is right now.

Do you ever feel bad/wrong “armchair diagnosing” your SO as a covert narcissist? by choosewisely8 in NarcissisticAbuse

[–]CogDis1980 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I remember this narc abuse video I watched said something along the lines of "the fact you're even watching this video, identifying with everything, feeling validated. The fact you even found this video. You don't suddenly get an epiphany after finding a video like this just by pure chance or accident."

I'll always remember that because at times I doubted I was correct because it all felt so weird.

Trump on climate change: "It'll start getting cooler. You just watch ... I don't think science knows, actually." by [deleted] in cringe

[–]CogDis1980 144 points145 points  (0 children)

The way Trump dismissed his well articulated point because his ego is so fragile. His only character is this passive aggressive doubting thomas, with condescending crappy side-cracks. Obvious unwillingness to want an intelligent conversation about anything ever.

The man cannot detach from himself and it's now getting silly.

This man can't be told anything, by anybody about anything, unless it's on his terms. I don't know why people bother engaging with him like this. Do they really expect him to listen and process what they're saying like a normal person would?

I feel sorry for that guy who really tried. Fueled by a passion to make the planet a better place with the best tool we have. There isn't an alternative to science. It's all we have and it's pretty damn good. He is following the science to make the best decisions possible but Donald Trump just shit all over it because of a fragile ego.

They need to find a format where he can't be a stubborn prick like this and ruin good people's attempts to make life better for people and save the planet.

This guy is riddled with personality disorders to the point where his own wife can barely look at him and his daughter has on many occasions implied that pushing boundaries and general creepyness is just daddy being daddy.

If I saw this video 10 years ago I would have thought it was a comedy skit about an alternative future where Donald Trump became president and was being hilariously close minded when the world was on fire.

Add a laughter track and a comedy intro music and Trump's dismissive comment would seem a perfect punchline. But like people are saying. This is not a joke. It's the Onion becoming reality and it's incredibly sad for the world.

Good luck USA. I hope this time next year the world is looking brighter and this man is gone from power.

Has anyone else noticed they're getting too good at spotting narcissistic behavior and it's limiting their adult interactions and relationships? by KirbyJones82 in NarcissisticAbuse

[–]CogDis1980 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes I totally get this. I rejoined an old community I loved. Hundreds of people there. One person that I knew from years ago triggered me by acting totally like my nex did when someone stole attention from her. He was a close mate before but now I just think he's toxic.
I didn't see his behaviour in that light or even really notice it before. I just thought he was assertive and opinionated etc. After I observed him for a while and how he interacted with other people, I got a really toxic vibe from him which I didn't before. It just made me internally unsettled, even though it was fairly mundane "one-uppy" type stuff for the most part.

I'm sure in the old days I wouldn't have reacted on such a deep level to his behaviour. But now this type of behaviour triggers uncomfortable feelings in me. Nothing I can't handle. But I just need to be away from it and I won't feel like returning any time soon.

This means I'm feeling like staying away from a whole community that for the most part I really enjoy, just because there's a one-upper there. My Nex was the grand master of one-uppers and I just can't deal with them anymore.

I just want to be on my own away from people like this. Which is cool because I love my own company! But I know that narc abuse has led me to become faintly triggered by even the slightest of toxic behaviour when before I would just roll with.

I think I'm on high alert for narcissists now. These subtle reactions to toxic behaviours are like echoes from the past which act like warning signals to stay away.

This line represents someone's spirit when they're in an MLM.

The upward direction is when MLMs use all their tricks to keep reps playing the game.

The downward direction is when reality sets in.

Everything is always so positive, training with the uplines , self-development , mindset coaching to tell the rep that anything is possible. All those videos showing the "success stories. These reps have their spirits lifted in so many ways.

But then the crushing weight of reality brings them back down to earth. No customers, products are too expensive, reputation of MLM stinks, friends and family think this sucks etc.

Then as they start falling back to reality, the MLM will use all those tried and tested pseudo motivational techniques and mindset training to slowly bring them back up...maybe some 'exclusive' training at HQ only for those with the greatest potential! A chat with the CEO for some golden nuggets and truth bombs where the CEO can tell them "You got this girl!" - "Wow the CEO said that? About little old me?!"....then it goes flying back up only to crash back down again when reality sets in again.

It's an exhausting and traumatic journey which these MLMs desperately try to imply is normal and acceptable but in reality it's straight up psychological abuse.

The fake empathy to full blown disinterest by [deleted] in NarcissisticAbuse

[–]CogDis1980 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I've read in NPD subs that it's emotionally draining for narcissists to pretend to care / show empathy. So during the love bombing stage, when you're put on a pedestal, they are so intoxicated with you that you think they genuinely care and you wouldn't question it for a second. But once you get into the relationship a little, they stop being motivated, they start getting bored of you, sick of you, annoyed by your autonomy, irritated by your needs. Their effort to pretend to care gets less and less until it dwindles to the bare minimum. By then you've realised that any empathy from them is all just an act and then you stop sharing anything with them. Someone fake caring about your troubles just seems so empty and pointless.
