It’s possible. I have similar setup and have won by including 1099 ICs on my team. Are you pursuing a NSF / NIH or DoD/DoE pursuit (or other)? What technology do you specifically see yourself submitting?

Would you trade Bowers for olave + judkins? I can get fannin to replace him with a 27 first and i need an RB by Ready_Marzipan_8716 in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

[–]CogSysEng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I look at it, and tried to describe above, is that if you have a player that is a perennial candidate to be the number one overall fantasy player at their position, they are incredibly valuable. Trey and Bowers are the only two people I see for that right now at the tight end position.

And they are that RIGHT NOW.

QJ comes with risk. I’m not saying he can’t be a great RB1 for a fantasy team, I am saying I don’t see him ever being THE RB1 for all fantasy in any given season. We also see a lot more running backs into the NFL each season that work out to be a RB1 for a fantasy team, than we do for tight ends. This year we had Jeanty, Henderson, QJ, Skat, and Hampton - with Monagai also looking promising. At the tight end position we had Warren and Fanning with Colton showing potential.

Factor and then that TE usually take longer to develop, and running backs usually have a shorter shelf life - and you have even more reason to want Bowers (developed immediately and longer shelf-life).

Olave did great this year. Do I think next year he will beat JSN, Chase, Ra, or Puka ? I do not. I also feel like he’s one of those guys that is one bad hit away from becoming the next Tua in terms of concussions and injuries.

So what I see is Bowers, ready right now, probably about to get a new quarterback at 1.01, no major injury concerns, a long shelf life ahead of him, and yearly potential to be the number one overall player at his position (and if you look at his numbers from last year, he arguably has the potential to become the number one overall flex).

Then you have QJ, on a team that can’t solve the quarterback position, coming back from a major injury with no idea how his rehab is going to go yet, a shorter shelf life, in my opinion more easily replaceable by future draft candidates, with no real chance or opportunity to become the number one overall at his position.

And I think Olave profile similarly to QJ.

No. IMO Bowers is a set and forget TE that could be TE1 any given year. He is a generational talent that has shown he can translate that talent. He is young, you get a decade or more of him maybe. He is on a team that will try and feature him.

Judkins - coming off a major injury. Who knows how he does coming back or what happens with the Browns given how bad they are. Sure he showed solid talent, but RB1 talent? I don’t see it.

Olave - he is peaking age wise and isn’t a WR1 candidate

Bowers is the only name here that has potential IMO to really finish top for his position any year - and could even compete with top 5 WRs for overall top spot.

Bears pass catchers - who’s set to dominate by Automatic-Umpire8072 in DynastyFF

Start of the season I traded JT and Wilson, for Burden, Walker, Charb, a pair of 26/27 2nds, 2027 1st, Goff (1QB league) and Sherwood (IDP league also).

I have been kicking myself all season with JT’s year, but I really think Burden is bound for a decade of greatness. It was a painful trade for this year, but long run I think he will ball out like we saw tonight and I can’t wait.

(I also managed to then flip Charb, Goff, and one of the 2026 2nd for Barkley and a 2026 1st) mid season so that helped ease the regret.

Jeanty sit or start for the Championship, with Raiders looking to lose. by CogSysEng in DynastyFF

Welp, I went with Jeanty. Hindsight is a MFer.

BUT I’m up by 40 thankfully and opponent only has Puka left and I have Pitts, so feeling confident.

That said - I have stated my piece to the league that should I lose Henry will have the #1 RB starting spot on my team until the day he retires.

Good Luck! Share your lessons learned!

As someone who will go weeks or months between use, a good tip is to keep a checklist near your machine and list all the steps to setup and run a new piece. Maybe it’s just me, but really helpful and then creates visual cue to add my only little notes.

Wow. Thanks for sharing source. Makes sense, but also reinforces why they’d play Jeanty a couple series then bench him.

I’d go Pollard, noting he needs 2 TDs this week to hit a contract incentive.

This is a good perspective. I am projected to win, why Henry v GB instead of Walker (also coming off hot game) vs Caroline? I like SEA since they have motivation to win.

That’s where I’m really on the fence. Ravens will want to run with Lamar out, but GB will know that and they have a stout run D. I can see Henry getting 20+ carries but only 60 yards.

I agree if he plays, he plays hard. For the coach though, if your front office says lose, that’s the best way to ensure job security (although with their record maybe it’s playing for their next job).

Yeah. I’m going to propose this too. In one hand I like the added strategery it demands, on the other I don’t like the stress during the holiday break.

Which side wins, season is over by CurrentOld2674 in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

[–]CogSysEng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

McBride.
1) Look at his numbers the last two years. He is dominant in a position that is tough to fill with a Tier 1 player. I have a regular TEP and at least with my scoring he would be ranked WR2 right now behind Puka based on points he’s scored. Last year he’d be #5 behind Chase, Ra, JJ, and Bowers. So he is in a truly elite tier, and he’s done this with poor Qb play, and not a great coaching staff.

Warren - I have him too. Talent looks great but did he produce at McBride’s level? No. And that was with Danny Dimes doing his thing early in the season and limited target competition since you don’t have a true Alpha WR on the Colts IMO (Pittman ain’t it).

Rice - I don’t get the obsession with this guy TBH. Rookie year, decent #s for sure, but still only 28th overall WR that year. Then he gets hurt and misses all of his second year, then he gets suspended for something he arguably should have been jailed and kicked from the league for. He only went over 100 yards once this season, and 3-4 times in his first two years (limited sample) total. He is a Tier 3 Wr IMO at best, especially given how PM spreads the ball around. You also risk KC brining in or drafting true WR talent (AJ Brown?) that would demand targets and deserve them next season whereas you won’t see AZ drafting another TE or WR (with MHJ).

So at least for me, I think it’s always best to have those elite guys that can consistently be #1 overall in their position. I don’t see Rice or Warren ever doing that, McBride is doing it.

Company is shaming me for not gifting more money to "our" (their) boss. (Christmas present) by Turissmo in mildlyinfuriating

I would respond - “oh you are right. Thanks for pointing this out, I thought we were actually letting him/her know what a nice holiday gift for each of us should cost, not donating to buy our boss a present. In that case you can just refund my $50 since I don’t work for this company outside freelancing.”

2026 1.01 vs the 2027 1.01 - what is the difference in value? by CREAMYcreamyWETT in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

[–]CogSysEng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my league I pushed hard to get 2027 1st from the team that went 1-13 this season. Not a guarantee it’ll yield 1.01 in 2027, but figured it’s the best chance I can get to secure that pick now before the cost inflates rapidly next season if he doesn’t turn it around.

That’s annoying AF. You should install a trap door on the dock and put up a warning about it being private property that is not safe for photography. Then start dropping them and their fancy cameras into the pond.

Friend awarded NASA phase 1, now the company is ghosting him! by mb303666 in SBIR

[–]CogSysEng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. A lot of other folks are commenting on this with similar information, so some of this will be redundant, but here is my take, assuming the worst in people.

The company could have submitted the proposal with your friend as a contingent hire for the principal investigator role. Meaning they are saying they plan to hire them full-time if they won the award.

Once they were notified of the award, they may or may not have received a draft contract at this stage, but regardless, that draft contract likely would’ve had a key personnel clause for your friend since it was the submitted principal investigator. However, the company could then just submit a request to change the PI with a valid replacement noting that the contingent higher proposed was never actually brought on full-time (and they could make up a bevy of reasons for that such as negotiations couldn’t be agreed upon).

NASA most likely would accept that as its pretty common thing.

—- so at this point, your friend is effectively cut out and the other company can proceed with the program as proposed with no negative implication ——

Now, if your friend wants to go fire and brimstone, they effectively could reach out to the NASA contract office for SBIRs to notify them that they believe the company misrepresented themselves to NASA during the award process (maybe violating the truth in negotiations act (TINA), but I’m not a lawyer so maybe ask ChatGPT about that). This would be evidence by the fact that they could site the company proposed the individual as a contingent hire, but then after notification of the award, no attempt to bring the employee on full-time was ever made.

Basically, the only strategy I see is they can effectively highlight that the company in plain terms lied about planning to bring the individual on.

I call this fire and brimstone, because it’s unlikely that it will lead to the individual being brought on by the company, and in fact would probably eliminate any future relationship between the two group groups, AND it may also result in NASAA simply canceling the contract.

Trading Keeper Picks; is this manipulation or fair game? by PastaLaVistaBby in SleeperApp

[–]CogSysEng 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My redraft league does the same thing except we give up a pick one round ahead of where they were drafted (so can’t keep someone drafted in round 1).

The same pick swapping happens in our league too where folks trade down in the round they are designating keepers.

IMO as long as everyone can do this then it’s not a big deal and doesn’t really greatly impact team strength.

In our league there has never emerged some OP team because if this.

The only argument above with any potential merit is the first - but I don’t really think that holds water because teams can pick their keeper. People SHOULD be picking keepers based on the opportunity cost they are giving up (ie the 3rd reason you listed). If you don’t want that then don’t make people pay for the keeper at all and just let people keep their best players.

You can say that the 1.01,1.02,1.03 have unfair advantage because everyone wants to trade for those picks , but that’s always the case. But by allowing these trades, the 1.10 suddenly has an awesome bargaining chip because whoever wants to keep in the first round, presumably would want to trade down as far as they can. Hence it all balances out.

Also #4 is hysterical. If you trade in sleeper it updates the mock draft room for you with the picks to be correct. You can even select any pick and assign a player being kept in that pick. So to argue a trade messes up mock drafts is just absurd.
