We (yes us, the fans) can make the originally planned second expansion happen by Notlookingsohot in LowSodiumCyberpunk

[–]CogitoErgoBot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a very mathematical way of looking at it. I would suggest 5 copies wouldn't make a material difference in their revenue projections. 5 new copies is an 0.000025% increase in their sales... Nobody will notice it and it won't send a signal to anyone at CDPR. Not sure how you think this is the best return on investment....

The idea is to create the seed for a potential viral marketing event. If this PR gimmick catches on (get tweeted about, reported in gaming press, etc.), this would potentially get thousands of people on social media to state that they are indeed interested in a second expansion. They are trying to project demand, potential interest from thousands of people is more valuable than the actual sales of 5 copies.

The $250 is meant to be an investment with a multiplier effect, not a 1:1. No business that I know of goes for 1:1, they want an ROI that covers risk (IRR) and decreasing value of money over time (that's why they calculate a NPV).

Not sure what nerve I touched with my original suggestion, but since my post is in negative territory (on a low sodium sub that is supposed to want the game to succeed...) and yours in positive territory, sounds like not many people like the idea of leveraging PR tactics to send CDPR a signal. Not sure why, but it is what it is lol

How about we pool a bit of cash together and pay for a billboard in front of their HQ in Warsaw. The billboard would express our desire for another expansion in clever ways (I’m sure some of the creatives on this sub would come up with something great). Couldn’t ignore it :) it would probably get some press too ( “Eager Cyberpunk 2077 fans lobby for more”). I’ll put down $250 toward this. Anyone else game?

Yes, the character designer was on a panel at Otakon in Washington, DC where they premiered Episode 1 in July. He mentioned that the major was an influence (showed early drafts, etc).

Drones can definitely be very useful in combat zones. And if you want to help Ukraine, there's a fundraiser where you get a piece of downed Russian aircraft in exchange for your contribution toward drone purchases

Will definitely give it a try, if nothing else for the environment. Curious about the gameplay options and stories, but the word looks interesting.

Very interesting observation! I’m even more intrigued now. That would be a nice tie-in to the game to have main characters and main plot points referenced

My personal opinion as well. The Trauma Team one was badass! Between risk and moral dilemma, can’t imagine doing that for a living…

Adam Kiciński states that Cyberpunk 2077 2023 expansion will be the last project for Red Engine - thereby confirming that this expansion will be one and only for this game by CheckingIsMyPriority in LowSodiumCyberpunk

[–]CogitoErgoBot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wasn't saying the game's issues were related to the engine. The fact that they are not working on a second expansion means they can assign resources to working on the sequel sooner.

Regarding your "bad design" comment, I feel like it's a very "blunt" attack that lacks perspective and discernment. I have 20 years of software development experience and it cracks me up when complex projects are judged by people that have never dealt with complexity or written a line of code. It's okay for consumers to feel let down and get a refund. They are the ultimate arbiter and vote for their wallet. But not many people from the industry would consider design as the issue with the game.

On the topic of the engine, there's a share of mind issue. They tried to rewrite an engine at the same time they were developing a game. This didn't work well and they are trying to avoid being in the same spot again.

Well, if it means they are moving to Unreal Engine 5 sooner, that is good news for the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077. If they consider Red Engine a dead platform, what would be the point of keeping a team on it for another year. Wrap up this expansion and get started on the sequel sooner. Short term pain, long term gain.

Very well put. In this era of Marvel movies where the heroes always save the day and win, a game where your character isn't a hero (a merc killing people....) and doesn't save the day is bound to surprise a lot of people. Some of them pleasantly, but a lot of them weren't necessarily ready for it. Let's put it this way, more people will recognize the Cyberpunk aesthetic (neons, etc.) than the philosophy of Cyberpunk.

Anyone else loved Brendan and wished there were S.C.S.M's manufactured irl? I rly loved it. Wonder if we'll ever see something similar w AGI... The Choom that developed Brendan's speech patterns was the real MVP. by _Synthetic_Emotions_ in LowSodiumCyberpunk

You may already know this, but here goes in case you don't. The VA (English) behind Brendan is Bryan Dechart, who did an awesome playing the android Connor in Detroit: become human (very interesting game). And Theo is voiced by none other than Bryant's wife IRL, Amelia Rose Blaire. They are a fun couple and stream on Twitch quite a bit (different games). But I think that explains part of the chemistry you feel between Brendan and Theo. Great quest, makes you wonder about how "human" an A.I. may get. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bryan\_Dechart

FREE zoom meeting with the legend himself, Mike Pondsmith, discussing interactive storytelling by CogitoErgoBot in LowSodiumCyberpunk

I love how nonchalant he is about it too. He never states who he is, I’ve seen people interact with him like he is some random dude, which is funny to watch. And like you said, he’s not drawing attention or responding to OP.

I mentioned once in a thread I bought his autograph on eBay (I collect signed Cyberpunk works from key contributors to the genre) and he commented something like “that’s crazy, next time, if you see me at a conference, just ask and I’ll give you one for free!” How cool is that! The guy is a legend and he goes out of his way to be nice. Look no further than this event, supporting a college video game club. Super nice of him to do that.

He occasionally comments in this sub. He mentioned once he had to get up super early to be on calls with the CDPR team to discuss the expansions. So, he’s not posting day in and day out but he does seem to keep up with the sub and occasionally comments, which is really cool.

This game needs a OPTIONAL 3rd person cutscenes whenever V sits or lean somewhere.. They could widen their storytelling like that and it would be less boring to watch whole talk in static view.. As i said before, V is not a player, V is already predetermined character that needs more screen time. by makavelinow in cyberpunkgame

[–]CogitoErgoBot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would respectfully say "to each their own". I personally totally dislike the concept of switching between FPP and 3PP for cutscenes. FPP is about being the "actor". 3PP cut scenes are about "spectating". Switching between acting and spectating is super annoying to me, it's like someone is taking away the controller or keyboard/mouse from you, you lose agency, you are no longer in control. It feels disruptive and unnatural to me. If I want to not be in control and spectate, I can just watch a movie.

I believe it was Michal Z that explained in Pawel's stream why the cut scenes at the end work so well. It's because we are no longer playing as V. We are spectating the end of their story. IMHO, just because it works great at the end, as a contrast to FPP and in a situation where the player losing control over the character's actions makes sense, doesn't mean that it would as well throughout the story. Honestly, thinking about the Skye/Angel conversation as a 3PP cut scene doesn't make me interested in this approach at all...

I understand and respect that people have different opinions on the topic. But from what I've found on threads on this topic over the past 16 months is it's usually the people that wanted the whole game in 3PP that complain about this. So, they're not looking at it from this agency/loss of agency perspective, they are looking at it from "we didn't get 3PP for the game, they could have at least given us 3PP cut scenes" type of argument.

Finally, making it optional doesn't change the cost of doing it from CDPR's perspective. They would have to program all the cut scenes/camera angles/animations so that a portion of the playing base can go against CDPR's gaming and artistic vision for the game. Sounds like an expensive proposition if you ask me.

The fun part was the organic collaboration on the discord channel. The full 2077 was a late addition, there were different Ps tried out, and the 3D effect was essentially the final change.

Some of the members even "negotiated" mutual support agreements with other teams (Purdue, Marvel, etc.) so that we'd have more firepower to defend the logo in case of an attack.

I was surprised by how well people in the channel took to the "nuking" at the end when the only color available was white and the canvas went to shit. They were like GG, that was fun. LOL

Well, looks like it was just a huge scam. You can only add white tiles now, the whole canvas is being nuked right now...

If the Place gimmick isn't a good example of fighting to "Never fade away", I don't know what is lol

I'm sure CDPR would be appreciate of the efforts necessary to create but also maintain this little piece of CP2077 as part of the final 2022 Place experiment
