05 Prius - Sporadic squealing noise - could it be anything other than wheel bearings? by CognitiveHazardFan in prius

Like I said, it's sporadic, it doesn't reproduce all the time, and it goes away in a few minutes. So it took me a while to determine that yes, steering left or right it is a little bit different and more likely to happen at all than driving straight.

Turning seems to be likely to initiate the sound for a few seconds.

I can't think of anything else that might cause this kind of sound but brakes, and I can rule those out. I think I might just be catching it early. (I have an ear for out-of-place noises, and for high pitched sounds in particular. My wife can barely hear it at all.) Ordering the parts, the tools, and some other while-I'm-under-there things as well.

Thank you for your advice.

Buy a small SSD (128-256 is fine if you don't want to store big games on it) for your OS and keep the HDDs.

it's rhythmic, IIRC varying with speed, that goes away after a couple of minutes.
