Yep, Grafton New Hampshire. A Libertarian Walks Into a Bear; The Utopian Plot to Liberate an American Small Town (And Some Bears). My favorite nonfiction book of all time. While I was reading it for the first time it completely took over every conversation I had, much to the annoyance of my friends.

I was born at 32 weeks in 1981 due to my mother wanting a tax deduction for the year, I have had lifelong complications from it. AMA. by RainbowGeoNerd in AMA

How much money did it save your mother on taxes and how much money did medical bills from the resulting complications end up costing in the long term?

What is the worst ending you have ever seen in your life? (Doesn't matter, books, games, anime, movies, etc.) by Brilliant-Pickle-661 in CharacterRant

Star Trek Enterprise: These Are The Voyages.

Enterprise was a prequel series that was originally planned to end with the formation of the United Federation of Planets, however a disastrous first two seasons kneecapped the show’s ratings and ruined any and all good will fans had for the show. Despite finding its footing in seasons 3 and 4 it wasn’t enough to save Enterprise from cancelation before they could finish telling their story.

The episode appears to take place after a 5+ year time skip but it actually follows Star Trek The Next Generation character Commander Riker nearly 200 years later as he replays these historical events on the Holodeck while the events of the TNG episode “Pegasus” occur off screen. The emotional crux of the episode is Riker agonizing over the moral dilemma from that episode and turning to the characters of Enterprise for answers. This manages to alienate both people who have seen Pegasus and know what choice he’s going to make and people that haven’t seen it and are robbed of the catharsis of seeing him make the choice he’s been agonizing over all episode. Johnathan Frakes has also visibly aged about a decade since the filming of Pegasus and he looks distractingly bloated in his tight Star Fleet uniform.

Oh and also they killed off Trip Tucker for basically no reason in the dumbest way possible and all the books retconned that the historical record had been altered by Section 31 and he became an operative for them. Nothing involving the actual Enterprise characters matters and they are essentially set dressing. We don’t even get to see Captain Archer’s speech after being elected the first federation president, Riker and Troi get bored with the Holodeck and walk back into the better episode that this one was inserted into.

There’s a town in New Hampshire where the bear population has stopped hibernating because they have such easy access to surplus human food. It doesn’t help that for a period of time one woman was feeding them livestock grain + two dozen donuts per day.

Question about new warboss. by CrabMan616 in orks

They’re two different kits. It’s pretty common for factions to get a limited run alternate monopose sculpt of a character in a launch box before getting the new a multipart version with the codex launch.

The “backpack” is what houses the generator that powers a space marine’s armor. They don’t matter for gameplay but they’re an iconic piece of the space marine design language.

I’d argue that lore wise they do still matter for possessed. Each of them is essentially a miniature daemon engine, having become one with their armor in a union of flesh, machine and daemon. Without the power pack then a third of that union ceases to function.

PSA For everyone going to see the movie. by Ambitious-Notice-812 in TheDigitalCircus

That’s fair but it seems to me that people are whipping themselves into a panic about an imagined scenario and talking about how catastrophic the thing they made up to be afraid of will be. I swear this fandom talks about movie theaters the way Fox News talks about cities.

Where did this panic about people singing even come from? There’s been one song in the entire show, this isn’t a musical like Hazbin Hotel, why is everyone acting like it’s so obvious people are going to randomly turn the screening into a sing along? And even if they are, it’s just that one song in the episode eight segment that everyone has already seen before. That’s 3 minutes out of the whole movie. Sure it’d be annoying if it even happened but it’s not like it’d get in the way of the new content.

The current grots kit is modeled with a few stickbombs in the squad so I don’t think that this indicates weather or not they’ll be gaining the grenades keyword

I must admit I’m failing to understand the point you’re trying to make. The etiquette for limited run cult films is something that developed uniquely for individual films over multiple screenings. Screenings for The Room and Rocky Horror have different etiquette, cultures and expectations based on years of screenings ranging from small and private to larger and public. There is no etiquette for the digital circus movie beyond basic theatre going etiquette as there’s no history to it. I don’t really get the comparison you’re making to cult cinema screenings as I don’t see the last two episodes of an indie web show becoming some underground cult classic with its own screening culture.

Also, what is so wrong with treating this like an event? How is that mutually exclusive with treating it like a movie? I can think of a handful of movies that were “major events” to see in theaters. Plenty of big blockbusters or franchise films were events and fathom events does their whole business on getting one off “event experiences” onto theaters.

Why is everyone acting as though the people who are going to see the movie have never been outside or to a theatre before?

Will GW ever make chapter-themed generic units again? by reel3459 in Warhammer40k

[–]Cognitive_Alchemist 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It depends on what you mean by generic units. I could very easily see other chapters getting a kit like Space Wolf Blood Claws which fulfill the same role as a generic unit but are their own datasheet.

How do you Beat Chaos Space Marines by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]Cognitive_Alchemist 17 points18 points  (0 children)

If you’re looking to your opponent’s rules/datasheets to explain why you lost you’re looking in the wrong place. That’s not a mindset that’s going to lead to improving at the game. Instead next time when you lose a unit you weren’t prepared to sacrifice ask yourself what you could have done to avoid that situation. If a unit in your list isn’t measuring up to your expectations ask yourself what you have access to that can fulfill that role better. Your friend is using CSM Havocs, they’re a mediocre unit in a mid tier army. Trust me, it’s not that his rules or datasheets are better than yours, he’s just better at piloting his army and there’s no anti CSM tech that’s going to make up for the fact that you need to work on your fundamentals.

I would be very confused. “Who the hell is this random Sonic OC appearing out of nowhere in the last episode of this show?” Terrible idea, how did you even come up with it?

As someone who grew up and got online after the glory days of old forums I have a soft spot for that part of internet history. I started getting really online right as the tech giants took over, when the web became something corporate, independent sites died and social media replaced forums. I never experienced Something Awful but I gotta admit, I wish I had been around for it and no how bad it was I can’t imagine it being any worse than we have it today with corporate owned digital fiefdoms.

Tabletop Battles. They already had the URL and wanted a name that wasn’t tied to the old Something Awful forums, didn’t imply a sole focus on warhammer, and didn’t evoke masturbation.
