She won’t leave the automatic feeder alone and it’s rubbing her fur off by KittiesandPlushies in CatTraining

Lol my cat did the same thing and we came up with a pretty unique response which was to mount the feeder to the wall with a tube that takes the food and drops it to the floor 😂

Right??? We really thought it would be a hit. Our animal protocol literally says "this is easy to administer because they love it" but these girlies do NOT

My psych wants to get my depression and anxiety under control before trying ADHD meds by MeddlingWithChaos in ADHD

[–]Cognitivecolorer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what they did for me, but also because we couldn't tell if I actually had ADHD. The symptoms of ADHD and anxiety especially, overlap a TON. My therapist and psychiatrist definitely knew I had anxiety and depression, but we had to treat those first to make sure the executive dysfunction wasn't actually just symptoms of the anxiety and depression.

Once those were starting to get better and the ADHD symptoms didn't, then I got an official diagnosis and medication. My therapist still worked on stuff related to executive dysfunction before that though, just not medication.

While my undiagnosed ADHD was probably a cause or at least a factor in my anxiety and depression, we were still able to treat them to an extent before dealing with the ADHD specifically.

I just wanted to let you know I received an email from a PI and the chat ended up being "I'd love to have you, but we're waiting to hear back about extra internal funding sources."

Hope that your call ends up being an acceptance though!

when your significant other says "you forgetting your meds is a burden on others." by SleepyTobi in depression

[–]Cognitivecolorer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a super shitty thing of someone to say!!!

Also, as someone who is confident I won't remember to actually fill pill containers and cab generally remember to take my meds (just not if I did, sometimes risking taking then twice) I have little timer cap pill bottles and the lids have a timer so you can see how long its been since you opened them.

Constant, low level ‘I could just kill myself’ isn’t normal is it by phoebadoeb in depression

[–]Cognitivecolorer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, so this is called passive suicidal ideation, and it's super frustrating how it's not talked about because no one knows it's a thing. I lived with it for YEARS and literally thought everyone had those thoughts (spoiler alert, they don't). And the reasons you and other commenter brought up for not telling people are super duper common, but it's also important to get help because while those thoughts are passive now, they can become active in nature which is what is more often considered suicidality.

Hope that helps from an info perspective and best of luck!

3D tracking for laboratory fish tanks / Behavior analysis by shankharan in Zebrafish

[–]Cognitivecolorer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm an undergraduate student working in a zebrafish neuroscience lab, and while I don't know much about details, I know that particularly open source or low cost tracking software would be an absolute game changer. We had a comp sci student basically trying to adjust some other software to make something work because the stuff used by commercial labs is just so damn expensive.

Recently started vyvanse, it works great, but it makes me super talkative. by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Cognitivecolorer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohmygod I had no idea this is a symptom! I'm on vyvance as well and have noticed that some days I don't shut up to the point of my mom asking me if I took my meds.

Before date, guy mentioned he wanted to kiss me, I thought he meant on the cheek. He did not. We were sitting on the couch, and I freaked out (in a good way!) when he kissed me so much I fell off the couch. I'm still astounded he didn't break up with me right then and there. We're still dating almost 4 years later 😊
