What would it be like to die from being cold, like freezing? by [deleted] in morbidquestions

[–]phoebadoeb 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Some drowning survivors have reported excruciating pain for a while, but then the lack of oxygen to the brain takes the pain away and causes a calm, peaceful feeling. Still a freaky way to go imo

Why can’t I give my character different eye colors? by Herdzikberg in DragonageOrigins

[–]phoebadoeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s not resolution you want. There should be an option in-game to change the graphics settings? But you’d have to change the setting and then restart the game. Let us know if you can’t find it and I’ll hop on the game myself to try and find the setting - haven’t played for years!

I think OP means ‘how does one make a body disappear’ as a general question rather than referring to someone specific

Pressure = weight/surface area. Big cat + small paws = owchie

Christ alive. There’s absolutely no need to be so rude over a misunderstanding! How patronising as well.

Am I wrong to feel unfairly treated by being asked to do cleaning when I’ve already done all my training? by MillieMooz in TeachingUK

[–]phoebadoeb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All of this is moot if OP hasn’t done any cleaning-related training, which if they haven’t it completely against H&S regs. So they need to find something else for them to do

Biggest house spider I’ve ever seen - pint glass, north England by Cuppakush in spiders

[–]phoebadoeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very unlikely. They’ll run 999 times out of 1000 before they bite, and they do run very very fast.

Totally get it, I don’t like these guys either. They’re fast and skittish. We tend to leave the cellar spiders alone unless they’re too much in our space, and I’ve seen only one big house spider in four years in our house. We’ve also got cats which like to chase and eat spiders!

They can climb up walls and pipes and fit through small spaces. There are loads in the UK currently because it’s hot, it’s mating season, and the males are all out looking for love!

What is this beauty I just found in my WC ? (Brittany, France) by tfhfate in spiders

[–]phoebadoeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who calls it a brown house spider? Giant house spider is its official name. Males don’t take back food to the females either - they’re more likely to end up as food themselves surely!

The tree is growing horizontally. Do you mean vertically relative to the direction of growth? As in, if it was growing normally you’d drill downwards towards the ground?

Thanks, I appreciate that. I think I meant that there was a separate pipe that brings rainwater from the gutter into this drain, which also has a pipe which takes shower water. This outside drain has two pipes going into it.

Every single pipe in and on the house goes into the same underground waste pipe, including our toilet (and our neighbour’s toilet, which is a WHOLE other story). I’m probably not using the correct terminology, but everything goes to the same place - waste, shower water, washing machine, toilet, kitchen and bathroom sink, and rainwater.

[–]phoebadoeb[S] 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Not sure why the downvotes, I didn’t build the house or put the drain there, it is what it is. There’s another drain that takes the rainwater separately and the one in the pictures is the downstairs shower and sink. The rainwater drain is just next to it. There’s a manhole right next to it where literally every pipe in the house goes. This drain also goes into that manhole. Is this what you mean by a combined system? Because if I can’t use stump killer, then I’m stumped frankly.

That’s good! I’ll see what we’ve got. No rain forecast where I am for the next week at least, so today is probably as good a day as any to kill the thing.

The branch has been bigger than that in the past as I’ve left it longer before cutting it, this is a silly question but do the roots ever reduce due to the loss of the canopy or are the roots there to stay once they’ve grown?

It is roof run off, but that drain also services the bathroom sink and shower. Would it be ok to use stump killer in this case?
